Apologies bad choice of word. What I was driving at was it not being High fantasy with its idealism and the like. As a matter of interest how do you define Dark Fantasy? I only ask because I realised I don't quite know. I just have a vague and woolly notion of what it entails.Vandrayke wrote...

Firstly I don't think have a Ginormous set of Bristols makes a game 'adult', I find it does the exact opposite. Secondly Dragon Age is supposed to be Dark Fantasy in which realism and believability are essential. Huge bazongas are a kick in the nads to immersion. <_<
I would argue that dark fantasy does not imply realism at all. It's basically fantasy-noir.
This is a thread about boobs.

Morrigan doesn't need boobs, the others may do, simple as that. If they're dumb & classy as a pig, without boobs they don't stand a chance

Big breasts on a disproportionate body can induce many health and movement issues.

Sorry if this may rub some people the wrong way but I just don't get this fixation among our resident fangirls about the size of the DA character breasts. Considering this is a mature rated game played by adults, I find it hard to believe the women playing DA think big boobs are going to somehow implant in the minds of guys playing the game that all women are tramps or something. It is a fantasy game and if for guys that fantasy involves being in a world where all the woman are "well endowed" and spectacularly pretty... while spoil it for them ?
You don't hear the guys complaining that Bioware is hurting their self esteem or stereotyping men by having Hawke and the other male characters in the game look impossibly rugged, handsome or muscular.
Don't try to make it more significant than it is; the way I see it, they just want to play with a character that they think looks good as a fantasy heroine.
Well its one thing to be able to ask Bioware that they have the abilty to adjust the breast size of the "Hawke" character they are playing with and fine... I can live with that. But to object to Bethany and any other female character involved in the game just because of how they look in a shirt ?
I hope thats not the point of this thread.
It's not, and you clearly didn't read the OP. Go do that now. No one is objecting to a woman's presence in the game. Morrigan wore far more revealing clothes than Bethany--and I don't see girls objecting to her character design.
But you did say in your previous reply to me that you want the default size to be less distractingly huge. Now if you meant the Hawke female model... ok like I said, no problem... Bioware should let you have options. But if you meant EVERY female character in the game should have their breast size reduced to what you would consider to be an "acceptable average", then hell no. Last I checked... 70-80% of games not named farmville are played by guys.
Ooops edit: sorry that was Anarya who said that not you.

Come on .. In most video game important female protagonist are skinny with big tities and Milk skin without a single mole , perfect teeth , perfect shampoonoo hair and even after 2 years traveling the world and not bathing and shaving nothing grow or stink.
It's called a video game.
That's hilarious, Dragon Age and perfect teeth. We ask that they look respectable as fantasy heroines. People are still scoffing at Bayonetta's ridiculous character model.
You know what? I have NO PROBLEM with Bayonetta's appearance. It fits the game. Bayonetta is ridiculously over-the-top in everything, including fanservice and I'm 100% ok with that. It's tongue-in-cheek and it's what they were going for. It does not fit in Dragon Age.
Maybe, but her body is so out of proportion I can't imagine how anyone finds her beautiful. Those legs, that head...yech.
She's proportioned like a fashion illustration. It is kinda weird but I used to make fashion illustrations all the time so maybe it looks more acceptable to me. Anyway back to DA.

In that case it would make more sense to clamor for body customization instead of asking BioWare to shrink the female assets, no?Anarya wrote...
It's not different but you don't even see the abs unless you walk around fighting naked. I prefer a less beefcake male model myself.

Incidentally, the comparison between the male characters being muscular and the female characters having large boobs isn't exactly perfect. Being muscular is good on a practical level as well as an aesthetic level, whereas bigger bra sizes doen't really offer you a tactical advantage
Of course, variation would be awesome, but let's not have slightly ridiculous defaults.

In fact, Bethany is so slim every where else, that she probably has a difficult time even standing up straight. Not without significant back problems anyway. Let's hope she's a healer

Yuuup. I have minor scoliosis and have to regularly bind my chest if I do any form of an extreme workout. It's frustrating, to say the least, and so I may be biased when it comes to large chested heroines.

C = sexyness+boob size
constant for female characters to be interesting. When the writing team is out of inspiration, they just pump up the boob size, no joke.
