This is really what it comes down to, and I /agree. Bioware gives ridiculously cut guys for the people attracted to men and big-breasted women for those who like women. It's a fantasy game it's not going to be realistic. Only a fraction of guys have the physique you see in Dragon Age. There wil definitely be adjustments for your own characters. But as far as the NPCs go I don't see the big deal.Marionetten wrote...

Most males like big breasts. Most women like washboard abs. BioWare will pander to this.

I'm so glad someone brought this up. I just saw that first screenshot today, and frankly, the boobage is so epic it was all I saw for a good long while. Now, I'm a great lover of breasts and have no issue with ample bosoms, but to imagine a weapon-wielding adventurer with assets like that makes me feel sorry for the poor lass. Imagine the back trouble! And the discomfort when running! So please, dear BioWare, fix the proportions of (what I assume is) the female model in the game.
THANK YOU.
I think the fact that so many people have been saying the same (male gamers included) speaks to the fact that they're just too big as they are now.
Don't extrapolate from a small sample, boobs r fine!
Yes. They are. But boobs large enough to smack you in the face when you run? Not so much.
No pity for the weak! Survival of the fittest!
Those that can't run with boobs will be eaten by darkspawn.

I think such class distinctions are archaic. If I was a "mage" and adventuring all over the land, I'd still want to be in good shape.

Big breasts on a disproportionate body can induce many health and movement issues.
That article had the stupidest quote ever:
"I actually have been training with guns and knives for
years. I go to the firing range. I’ve been training with my M4s and
Glock-19 for years!"
If plinking really counts as any sort of training, then sure! Knife training? Knife fighting is tied to martial arts (FMA/silat/etc) and if she can't run, I doubt she can even participate in edged weapons combatives. M4s? Odds are she can't field strip an AR15 and put it back together correctly.

It will get a lock. Which means that someone read it.
And seeing from the unintelligent replies of the pro-enormous side, perhaps they will rethink.

Apologies bad choice of word. What I was driving at was it not being High fantasy with its idealism and the like. As a matter of interest how do you define Dark Fantasy? I only ask because I realised I don't quite know. I just have a vague and woolly notion of what it entails.
Dark fantasy is to normal fantasy as gotham city is to metropolis
"dark" elements are exaggerated. Like noir-ish detective stories, but in a fantasy setting. Dark and seedy with a bunch of shady characters like Sin City. Villains are suitably vile and femme fatales are suitably tempting. The hero has a sketchy past and sketchy motivations but does the right thing in the end. The cops and government are usually corrupt and the prostitutes are noble.![]()
Apply all that to fantasy and you get dark fantasy.

No, those that can run with boobs generally end up having their boobs replaced by musculature.

Male players find a great variety of things attractive. You could reduce Bethany's chest size by a lot before the vast majority of males started finding her unattractive.Bobad wrote...
I think the main question is why would BioWare make female characters that male players find attractive?, surely they don't design male characters that are attractive to female players?, isn't that why Lloyd was an npc love interest like Dairren?

I put Morrigan (in her default robes) up in the OP as an example of "just right". Note that her boobs in that outfit were not the same as the default female model, which were weirdly shaped and bigger.

A lot of people are just insecure when it comes to boobs. A little size and they get all uncomfortable and some start to even feel inadequate. We can't blame them though, they are taught to idolize people with small breasts (super models) and seeing people attracted to larger busts makes them froth at the mouth because their standards of beauty aren't being universally adhered to. They don't want big breast lovers in their 'sophisticated fandom'.
As a connoisseur of large chested women, I say bully to Bioware for going with the bolder and more exciting option. To be fair to the insecure women, I'm perfectly willing to accept larger bulges as a trade off.

That reminds me of a joke someone told me one time.
In France, the perfect breast fits in a wine glass. In America, it plugs a toilet.

If you think those washboards abs are anything but eyecandy I don't know what to tell you. This is a picture of the world's strongest man. I'm sure you're familiar enough with the Dragon Age ideal. Needless to say, Magnus doesn't exactly match up.Saibh wrote...
Someone has already pointed out that there is at least a practical purpose for having muscular men--they are active, and therefore very fit. Women who are active get a decrease in bust size. Also, I see men around here complaining all the time about JRPG heroes being such skinny pretty boys. While many women would prefer for the default model to be more reasonable, many men would prefer for their models to be heroic and masculine.
It's fine if you want the boobs downsized but stop acting as if only females have to deal with abnormal fantasy ideals in games. Males are equally afflicted and as someone who has played the the role of the sickly mage for forever I've never felt comfortable with my avatar.
Most of the female armor in Dragon Age: Origins were extremely covering except for the leather which looked absolutely horrible. That said, as long as the plate armor doesn't look like this I don't see the issue. It's fine for a mage, male or female, to show some skin.Saibh wrote...
And someone else pointed out that men don't go around baring their midriffs and washboard abs. They are covered beneath armor. If you want that eyecandy all the time, you'd better be prepared to sacrifice armor and stat boosts for it.

That much is evident. In DA:O, however, an individual honker (on the female human model) was about the same size as a human head.CrookedAsylum wrote...
