When I saw the first promotional picture of DA2, I honestly thought it was a young Duncan. I was let down when I found out it wasn't. I was hoping it would give some insight into Duncan's personality (and maybe why he seemed so heartless when it came to killing Jory without a second thought.)

How would that work? Wouldn't it be hard for Duncan to have a son being a Grey Warden? Maybe he had him before he became one? How old is Hawke, and how long has Duncan been a Grey Warden?

I thought they plan to keep the DA setting realistic and not turn it into some sort of cheesy soap opera where everybody is everybody´s elses long lost twin/child/nemesis returning after a cosmetic surgery and/or with amnesia.

I highly doubt it is Duncan, they made up a background story for Hawke's family with the father being a aposte and something along the line the father taught Beth and maybe Hawke magic?

Plus, Duncan is really dark/swarthy and default Hawke is as pale as a ghost.

Of course if it means that much to you, you can use the character creator to make Hawke swarthy with brown eyes and an eagle nose (and hopefully a gold earring). Personally, I'm ludicrously proud of finally creating a femCousland who looks like she might reasonably be the daughter of Eleanor and Bryce.

Duncan is not Hawke's father. Well, 99% sure he isn't. Besides the fact that I'm sure I heard somewhere that Hawke's father was an apostate mage, at the start of the demo Hawke's mother is saying that they've lost everything she and Hawke's father built or something to that extent. Meaning that if Duncan was the father it wouldn't be secret. And this is ignoring the fact that he was far to busy as a Gray Warden to have built a life.

Dude read the thread. Hawke's father is an apostate mage that has trained Bethany and Hawke if he is a mage as well.
