I installed SoA into C:/Games/BGII - SOA. When I try to install ToB is asks me if I want to Uninstall ToB and then if I want to unistall SoA. Very strange.
When I first installed SoA it tried to start the program without it being installed. Solved this by starting the setup.exe file directly from the disk. That doesn't work with this ToB problem though.

It sounds like there was a previous install that wasn't fully uninstalled at some point in the past. Did you ever have the game installed before, even on a previous version of Windows that you may have upgraded to Win7?

I did a complete install of Win7 on a new HD a few months ago. This was the first time I installed BG2.
I've posted this problem in a few forums (SHS, Codex) and no one can think of a reason besides the registry. I have a extra HD so I'm going to make a legacy XP drive for situations like this.

Oh, it's definitely the registry entries that are the problem. You can edit those using regedit to seek out and remove the ones causing the issue. You'll find info on how to do this in the BG2 FAQ here for SoA and here (for ToB).

Oh yeah I'm stupid. Apparently I did install BG2/ToB a few months ago. I think I problems with the ToB disk and didn't get a correct installation then the uninstall didn't clean out the registry.
