I'm very new to the toolset, today being my first day ever using one. I've been following some tutorials on the wiki, but the lightmaps only render if I have no objects at all on the level editor, and only the lights themselves.

Creating an interior map without walls or a floor seems out of the question, and I'm sure I'm just bypassing a step, or something similar. And I also did not see a "lightmap-atlas" option under the Object Inspector for the walls and such.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. These are the errors I get after attempting to render:

Check this topic http://social.biowar.../8/index/150840

Make sure you have Active Python 2.5 (https://www.activest...thon/downloads/) installed - installing 2.6 will cause a similar issue.

Ah, thanks for that. That's the same problem I was having and it was because I had AP 2.6. Downgrading to 2.5 now.

Ok, maybe I spoke too soon.

The "failed to submit lightmap layout" error is gone, but I still get a "Failed to find lightmap-atlas info for model..." for every model in the level. Is this normal?

The first time you render the lightmap after placing an item, yes.

This is a bit funny.

I'm an old hand at toolsets, but well enough read on the subject of this new one.

Where, preciesly, is it mentioned we need a 3rd party program called Python to get our lightmaps to compile? I've got the same issue and stumbled across this thread.

More info would be better.

Stab in the dark, but I believe they use python scripts to coordinate sending files back and forth between the toolset and the EclipseRay lightmapper.

A deft stab it is then, because my compile now works. Touche.

Mine still doesn't work after downloading ActivePython. I'm getting the same thing as Quaxo.

Thanks very much for the input. I will download and test that version of Python and post my results tomorrow.

This error occurs for people trying to use the 64bit versions of ActivePython 2.5. If this is what you were using, then install the 32 bit version even if you have a 64 bit machine and it should work.

Okay, I installed version 2.5 of ActivePython, and it did work.. At least for the most part.
I no longer get the errors at the end, and the render finishes successfully. The only thing I'm curious about, is the "failed to find lightmap-atlas info" warning, which Quaxo and I are still getting after installing this version of Python.

Can anyone inform me what the lightmap-atlas is, and what might be causing this warning to appear? It doesn't seem to be affecting the render's final outcome, but it would still be nice to know.

@JasonNH:
In-case it is relevant to anyone else, I'm using a 32-bit machine with the 32-bit version of Python installed.
