Square Enix have recently released the Pre-Release Trailer for FFXIV, I've embedded it here.

It's not bad and quite nice. Some of the english writing is a little odd though; I feel maybe something got lost in translation or something.

Anyway, this was released in anticipation for their Open Beta, which is coming in August 31st. I've never played the previous one, FFXI (mostly because I heard how un-solo friendly it was). FFXIV seems to be a bit more solo-friendly from the reports I've been reading, so I'm willing to give it a try even with the somewhat controversial features I've read, to get my own impressions of the game.

Hmmm, I wonder how does one get into open beta anyway? I signed up for closed beta long before, but never got chosen. I wonder if open beta will still be invite only.
