I read that IGN artical about DA2 (the one that just came out). And looking at some of the pictures I am vary concerned when I see almost identical mage outfits as DAO. Although I didn't see any mage hoods I really hope they are not the same as well. I think almost everyone thought the mage hoods were lame in DAO.
I am mainly concerned because if your going to totally redo the artistic style of the game then why on earth would you keep the same old mage robes? Especially when the old ones were not that great to begin with. It makes me wonder what else they are going to try to bring over from DAO into this drastically different art style. Did anyone think the DAO mage robes looked good? Does anyone actually *want* to have the old robes in the new DA art style? I suspect that most people want something different, something that fits better with the new style. Mage robes seem like they would be extremely easy to change, so can we change them to something new?

What types of robes do you guys want? Personally I want darker robes, more evel robes. It seemed like in DAO the whole game was surrounded by evil things but here you are with your robe that looks like you just got out of church (not something you would ware to save the world) I also think they need to show more skin (morrigans outfit is the exception) It looks like they almost go from head to toe covering your entire body, which is lame.

What do you guys think? Do you want the old ones or new ones? And how do you want them to look?

I think they're very pretty. They have actually been updated--the sleeves are different, and it's more detailed.

Also, plz no ugly mage hats, kthx?

Whichever person who designed the mage hats should get the ultimate WTF WERE YOU THINKING AWARD. Also, Bethany's robe looked hawt, so I wouldn't worry so much about the robes. Just hope that they don't bring back those cone-shaped disasters.

I'm not saying I hated the outfits or anything, I found a robe in DAA expansion that I liked. I just thought they could do better in DA2 and find something new that fits the style better. Plus I want some evil looking robes. =)

I liked a couple of the mage robes (the furry shoulder ones basically), but the others not so much. I'm worried about the mage and rogue armor again because I don't like what I see so far. Heavy armor as always looks very nice, and the character-specific outfits look great as well, but the others? Not attractive.

If they add too much armor the game will cost THOUSAND AND THOUSAND more of chickennugget.

So you have to ask Joe Mushroom and he will do it for free in his basement..
Because you know they will have to beta test each armor for 2500 hours.

Has for the Hat .. I don't even wear helmet at all.Armor it's for weakling.

@ Suprez30 If I was playing it on a computer I could do that. But on the PS3 we have to take what they put on the game as final.

I really hated the mage outfits in Origins and Awakening. I always became and Arcane Warrior so I didn't need to wear them. It would be a plus if they changed them for me.

The actual robes were fine. But then they had these weird outfits that just looked horrible. I think they had feathers or something and didn't look a thing like robes. I hated the way they looked. A mage robe should be long and flowing.

I wouldn't mind conical mage hats if they were rimmed, pointy conical mage hats, rather than the rimless gumdrop conehead hats we got instead. Isn't DA2 going for a more angular armor design anyway?

I actually find it nice to have a little consistency after all the changes that have been made. Besides The only mage robes that "looked like you just got out of church" were the circle of magi robes obviously because it's controlled by the chantry. All the other outfits had necklines that practically went down to your pc's bellybutton (which I didn't exactly consider a good thing.)

@ Saraphial You might be rite. I think I always just wear the robe with the most magic powers which was a lot of the time from the circle.

Poor attempt at foreshortening? It's from a D&D manual from the looks of it. There's one much worse....
But I can't seem to find it. It's of a woman on a stairwell... and.. well....
Edit: Here it is.

But anyway, the hats, the terrible hats. The moment I put one on my mage I just knew I wouldn't be able to take her seriously ever again.

Add leather to your list :P

The cloth and leather pieces were terrible. One would think Thedas had only one fashion designer because every mage wore variations of the same outfit(s).

I would hope they change in around in DA2 -- and don't be too worried, I doubt the finer things like armour has been done yet so the outfits right now are placeholders.
