.And yes, dev team should look at the artist's work when making robes. Mages can wear circlets instead of hats you know.

Circlets would be a great solution, but they'd need to be able to work with the hair which seems to be a problem.

If Bioware does include Grey Knight armor (in my dreams) :P please remember to give warriors the Terminator Armor as well. GO WH40k!

Shale would look badass as an Imperial Titan.

Tbh i found that they were super lazy with the armor designs for Dragon age, Mass effect. I dont get why... Maybe they want to sell them as DLC later or something O.o...

There are lots of designs they could do with armors, robes, helms, shields, weapons... But they did not...

I'd like to see better mage robes this time around, more variation, and hats that don't make the characters look like imbeciles.

LOL. I can understand that taste is subjective but my main qualm was the lack of variation. You're right, the mage hood doesn't look THAT bad. But every cloth head piece looked like that! =_=
I think the first mod I got was the hide-helmet one :P

That hat I actually liked. *ducks for cover* It looked interesting and unique. And was way better than most supposedly ok-looking warrior/rigue helmets.

Yeah. Terminator armor (the 'proper term' is 'Tactical Dreadnought Armor', right?) would be nice to walk around in...in the Dragon Age setting.
(Overkill? No. Such. Thing.  )

I imagine Shale would be more of a Dreadnought than a Titan. (to drag up one of my ideas in the now buried cannon/firearm thread that someone started: wouldn't it be cool if you could 'up-armor' a Golem and stick cannons on it? ^_^ )

As for mage armor:
- I disliked most (all?) of the mage cowl/hood/headgear options (something like a tiara or crown would've been nice)
- most of the robes weren't so pretty
- yup: I liked that elf-mage concept/promo art attire thing. would've been nice if the stuff in-game were closer to the art made for it.
- I would have been quite happy had they included all the gear used in the Sacred Ashes trailer (esp. Morrigan's less-revealing attire and Leliana's more 'armored' look)

No, Shale will be an Imperator class Titan and will still fit in the Deep Roads and some guys house.

I think they're very pretty. They have actually been updated--the sleeves are different, and it's more detailed.

Also, plz no ugly mage hats, kthx?

But mages need hats. It's hats that make them mages.

Poor attempt at foreshortening? It's from a D&D manual from the looks of it. There's one much worse....
But I can't seem to find it. It's of a woman on a stairwell... and.. well....
Edit: Here it is.

I'll take what she's wearing over the crap Bioware calls "robes" in DA:O. Bethany's barmaid chain outfit doesn't impress me, either.

First boobs, and now mage hats? Dammit Saibh!

I found the overall costume direction in DA:O a little lacking in terms
of leather and cloth armour. They seemed a bit bland and really didn't
stand out. I'm not asking for some crazy final fantasy design or giant
WoW pauldrons, mind you, just varying designs with their own unique
flare.

This would be epic, I agree with the poster. Dragon Age mages needed some MUCH needed love in the cosmetics department for robes (the above design is amazing btw), hoods and staves. They all sucked to be honest in DOA.

Mage outfit and leather armor looked well enough in Baldur's Gate 2 (Edwin's paperdoll comes to mind). You'd think the designers would top that in Dragon Age after all these years. I've never been able to bring myself to equip Morrigan with a headpiece. They all look horrible! And maybe they could make light armor look like protective vests. Prancing into battle in a clown dress is not inspiring, it's humiliating.

The cloth hats/hoods are also beyond hideous.

They look like lampshades! I realise this was very much a style in medieval times but there's a reason why no artist shows them when drawing fantasy art: THEY'RE BUTT UGLY!

Seriously, can't we have like a regular cowl? :P

The mages cowls I was okay with. They looked fine. The weird little feathers were...well, weird, but they looked fine to me.

Anyways, as I stated, variation is what I'm all after. In leather, in cloth, and even in plate although BioWare really did a good job on the plate gear IMO.

I hope we see cloth outfits look something like:

I would Love to see that outfit in DA2. You have all posted some great stuff. I didn't think we would all agree on soo much but it seems most people would like something more.

As for the issue of the hair needing to be covered with the hats. I dont think that was really why they looked so bad. I think they just got lazy and said....

Producer- *without even looking at the concept drawing* "yep lets go with that one"
Artist- "This one?"
Producer- "yep"
Artist- "yourrr sure?"
Producer- *still not looking* "Thats the hat, just use it"
Artist- *speaks softly* "I hate my life"
Producer- "What was that?"
Artist- "Beautiful choice of hat Sr"
Producer- "Thank you"

I just want a hood for my rogue. Is it too much to ask for a hood to make him look extra sneaky?

The fun thing is that hood is shown on the very class picture in DAO. Yet it's absent in game.

Also some black stuff. My rogue sneaks around in a bright red man dress in DAO. (I would post pics but the shame is just too much to bare) Although I did find some darker ones in awaking.

If DA2 doesn't have a rogue hood I may have to cover myself in mud for the extra sneakyness. (Also not going to post pics for shame reasons) Stories will be told for years about the man from kirkwall covered in mud stabbing beasties in the back. I may or may not wear clothes under all that mud.

Even Alistair recognized how ridiculous the mage outfits were (it's a conversation you can have with him if you're a mage).

I use the Wings of Velvet mod for my PC Dragon Aging. It's a nice set, for male and female mages.
