For the most part, smiling for any Shepard comes off as odd-looking. The reason being; smile animations are hard to make look sincere when you're dealing with the geometry of a single face. When you take into account the fact that the animation has to conform to a massive amount of facial structures... well, you get the idea.

However, Sheploo smiling nicely is not entirely unheard of. For instance;
