I have yet to successful downlad a module (a few attempts). One module has the cut scence and initial area but nothing else. I solved the initial problem by obtaining a RAR file extractor. I don't believe the problem is with the modules (tried high rated fequently downladed modules). I suspect the problem may have something to do with the presence or my confusion of two locations of the files, one in the "Program Files (x86)" and the "Documents" locations of Neverwinter Nights2. What am I missing? Which location should I downlad to? Is it better to save or open downloads? Do I need to move certain files locations after downloading? Any tricks or techniques would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

These are large files you are downloading. They will all be compressed so you'll need an appropriate program to uncompress them after download. This has nothing to do with W7.
Uncompress the .mod files to the Modules folder in your My Documents\\NWN2 directory.
Any hak files go in the My Documents\\Hak directory.

Mods I've downloaded all came with an install/readme file that spells out what to do. The game is installed in the Program Files folder; you never need to go poking around in there. All modules, custom content and save files will go in the My Documents folder.

Thanks for the input. But there is something else going on. Whenever I try to extract the files I get error messages (from 2 to over 100 files). Perhaps something (a setting?) is blocking it. I just don't know.

I think you might be missing the right extraction utility. Many files use 7zip or .RAR compression instead of whatever Microsoft uses, so you might have to download a separate, 3rd party utility like 7zip or WinRAR.
Win7 also comes with a lot of security and annoying 'idiot-proofing' turned on. You'll have to go through your security and folder preferences to turn a lot of that stuff off. For example, I remember both the program files folder and the user/my documents folder being hidden or otherwise locked initially. All quite frustrating.

Windows 7 does not use a my documents folders the same way xp did. I don't run nwn2 on win 7 but essentially the my documents folder is a ghost folder that is locked and simply redirects files to the library folder which is what win7 uses. I doubt anyone can place files into it as the folder really doesn't exist but just reroutes files for older win xp oriented apps. He should find where his neverwinter nights 2 documents folder is, most likely in library documents and put the mod files into the module folder in there. Perhaps someone using win 7 and running nwn2 can give more detailed information on the directory structure.
