heyas!
i need some SERIOUS help here. and i don't mean the tutorials. i mean... someone to explain to me WHY stuff is going wrong -- and how to fix it!!
GOAL:
i'm making a little video title scene. this is for machinima (fraps capture), not in-game use. it has my character, bannon, and a companion, zevran, using lines from both creatures' soundset conversation files. the cutscene is in my own cutscene module, in the party selection area.
everything is working/looking fine in the toolset (well, no, it needs tweaks, but in general, everything is working in the broad sense of the term). the actors act, they speak their lines w/ lip synch, the camera cams.
i've exported the area, the scripts, and the cutscene to the override. i've scripted the module to let me load my character from a save game. ive scripted the cutscene to start on area enter. so... when the character is loaded, and the module starts, and the area loads... the cutscene plays. all that works! (it's a miracle!)
PROBLEM #1:
zevran is not visible in the cutscene. his voice lines play, but he just ain't there.
Failed Solutions:
A: i duplicated zevran from the SP into my cutscene module and used that as his stand-in actor (dup_zevran).
B: i did that, but mapped that dup_zevran to gen00fl_zevran.
C: i exported gen00fl_zevran from the SP into the override.
D: i tried exporting dup_zevran from my module to the override, but i got errors and that failed to export, so i can't try not mapping him.
Dumb Question #1:
if i try placing dup_zevran into the area, then activating him (as opposed to adding him in the cutscene, which is what i've done)... will that mess up the cutscene positioning i already have for him? GAH.

okay, since i can't export the dup_zevran i figured that might be a problem, so i changed the 'actor' back into the default male city elf rogue. AND used mapping to gen00fl_zevran. (those better be zeroes... and um... that's not a one, is it???? naw, fl - follower)
NOW... he's visible in the cutscene. but he aint zevran. note: the gen00fl_zevran is still in my override. so OSTENSIBLY... he should be able to appear there, no?

ps: adding dup_zevran to the area had no effect on the cutscene... there wasn't any inactive model to activate. i am guessing (wildly) that the dup_zevran actor in the cutscene matched itself to the dup_zevran creature in the area automatically. ???

Well, a simple solution is to just recreate Zevran on a new creature. Make a new creature file, set him to elf male, add some items to his inventory (and set them to equipped), then go to head morph and select zevran (em_genfl_zevran or something).
