Ah right I misread the post and thought you had tried the OPs solution... have you tried his patch yet?
Since I was told that the BIOS will never update itself I figured that the solution would not do anything for me since I never got the bad patch to begin with.

O.k. I'm having the said issues with the game...extreme lag and load times.

you might try the core affinity fix I posted a few posts up. Not every phenom quad has the problem (as the OP pointed out)

It's not necessarily a bad patch (in some cases it is) but it's also tied to certain BIOS's and certain processors. You might try his solution in any case (since if it doesn't work, rebooting will undo any changes)

So you need to just tick off cpu 0 for dual core? Will that just put your processor to function as if it has only one core?
Yes. And "sort of". What it does is cause the operating system to assign the game to only that one core. What this means in simple terms is that it gives the game only 1 place to run. Now, this "could", in theory, cause a slowdown... BUT, what actually happens is that because the game is running on the single CPU it effectively ties up the entire processor. This sounds bad, but actually all that happens is that Windows will look for a free place to run anything going on (other than the game) and it will see that CPU 1 (Core #2) is busy and will not try to run anything else there. The net result is that instead of sharing processor time the game will have all of the processor (for example, a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo running with affinity will assign all 2.4Ghz of Core #2 to the game which will then run the game at an unmodified 2.4Ghz.).
It's possible with a properly optimized CPU and program to run it faster than that, but usually that also entails turning off "everything else" on the computer. And becomes a lot more work (for the end-user) to get things running securely (as anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are very bad at resource management) and efficiently (you end up turning off all the stuff that makes Windows pretty and it looks like you're running Windows 98).

You're welcome, glad to help. If y'all would like to help as well, just make sure to tell people that these fixes have worked for you and help squash the "memory leak myth" since just googling the information will help you know the answer. And as they say "Knowing is half the battle"

what OS? did you try the processor affinity fix? it's here under "Fix for crashing to desktop with Multicores"
the affinity fix bothers me because when i change affinity to work on only one core, that one core is at 100% usage even while DA is running idle. DA takes up 100% of 2 cores, also, for that matter, and it's not until i set it to use 3 cores that each core isn't maxed out.

like i said, this game running idle uses 50-60% of my total processing power, reducing that total power by 3/4 doesn't seem to make any sense at all.

While throwing around accusations of memory leaks is not always justified, what I'm seeing on my box is exactly what I would expect from a leak, specifically from one in a thread that gets way too much CPU time when the game can use all four cores. That said the game runs well enough for one to two hours and restarting after that isn't too much of a problem really... save+restart+resume is usually faster than a single reload by that time too.
