Give the fix a try. I belive the issue affects all 9500 and 9600 Phenoms that were ever shipped (the ones without this issue have the xx50 numbering, eg 9550 and 9650). The main factors regarding if you should try it or not are your motherboard and OS.Bara Rockfall wrote...
I have an AMD 9600 quad. My quesiton is this problem appears to be a year or so old. I just get my machine two months ago. Should I be concerned?
If what I've read is correct, most motherboards were patched with a TLB "fix" after the issue was uncovered and should be active in any newer motherboards (and can be often disabled through the BIOS). In regards to the Operating System controling it, Vista added their own "fix" in the OS with Service Pack 1 which may even override the BIOS selection if it's disabled that way (and the "fix" has remained part of Windows in Vista SP2 as well as Windows 7). The "fix" in question was made to prevent instability due to certain operations, however it also had the side effect of a 10-20% performance loss (hence why I don't actually consider it a fix and keep using quotations). The link the OP provided removes this "fix" and brings those Phenoms back to full speed.

i'm running windows 7 64 bit, my mobo GA-M57SLI-S4 (rev 2) AMD phenom 8450 trip. i can't find the tlb option in my bios. if win 7 automatically enabled the fix, then it would be useless to disable it in the bios ? i want to try the patch above but will it work with different processors than 9500 and 9600.

running xpsp3. on a 9550. which has zero problems with any other game or app.
hate to bump a thread full of erroneous "fixes" but people should know it's not exclusive to 9500/9600 and definitely not solved by vista-only solutions.

I noticed this issue with my Phenom and even though I had Disabled the TLB fix using the latest MB Bios, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit still seems to apply it so the TLB Disable program seems like the only consistent fix. I think the program will tell you if it will work for you or not as once activated it says TLB Patch Disabled. Phenom running at full speed. It is still weird that this game would be affected by this issue so drastically when other more graphically and CPU intensive games like Fallout 3 or Batman Arkham Asylum are not.

Thanks for the info. I am running Windows 7. This "fix" was carried over into W7? I haven't noticed any issues expect with DA:O. I run ME and Company of Heroes with all settings on full and had no problems. I have an Asus M3N72-D Motherboard. I'll check my BIOS tonight.
The BIOS is the first thing to check and mainly is for users who have Vista with no service pack or are running XP. Vista SP1 and SP2 as well as Windows 7 apply the TLB fix when Windows starts. After reading the articles the OP linked a few days ago I was at the assumption that Windows does override the BIOS option if you only disabled it there.
I am also running Windows 7 and while many of my other games performed fine before applying this workaround, I have noticed a nice increase in framerates and overall performance boost when I disable the TLB fix.
This workaround is only for those with Phenom 9500s and 9600s. If you have any other CPU or you have a Phenom 9550 or 9650, you should look into other solutions.

I wasn't even aware of this. Suddenly, a lot of things make more sense. Phenom 9600, bought about 1 year and a half ago...So this was just wonderful.
Thanks again.

My eternal thanks to the OP - this completely fixed the game for me. I had put the game aside for a few days, hoping that the devs would come up with a quick fix (besided, I had Assassin's Creed 2 to tide me over - mind-blowing game btw), but no patch seemed to come, so I checked the forums again and happened upon this post... best move ever!
My Specs:
AMD Phenom 9600 Quad core
GeForce 9600 GTS (x2/SLI)
4GB Ram
I couldn't play for more than 30 or 40 minutes without the game coming to a crawl, and my loadtimes were in the 5-6 minute range... now, I get a steady 60fps (even during large battles) with all details maxed (2xAA), and my loadtimes are 10-15 seconds... I played for three hours straight... brilliant!
I can't believe this hasen't been pinned by the mods yet... I was ready to abandon this game - it was that unplayable. Now, I almost feel like restarting, just to get the full experience.
Again, my thanks to the OP - and for those with processors that aren't helped by this fix - I feel your pain, and can only hope that Bioware can use this info to isolate what the actual problem is (since if seems clear now that it's CPU-based).

The game runs how it should.
Although I have never had any problems with other PC games. So this issue did seem kind of odd.
