People aren't as open to S/S romance as normal romance, If i saw this in my game i would probaly not finish it, Or start over. It depends on what kind of people you're talking about. Other parts of the world are far more tolerant than America, if that's what you're trying to insinuate. Now here's the question: If the romance was there but you never saw it because you, as the player, never triggered it, would you just stop playing simply because it's there?

If your answer if no, then that's understandable because some people feel uncomfortable in such situations. No harm done.

But seeing as zevran hitting on me in orignal dragon age happend on all 3 of my playthroughs unless i was a complete ass to him i expect the next gay romance to come up as well

Btw i do live in America but to the best of my knowledge that's where the majiorty of the gaming community lies. along with a few asian countries which i doubt is much more accepting of gay culture than us

I do not know much of japan or asian culture in general for that matter, But i'm pretty sure the largest asian country China is very against Homosexual romance (correct me if i'm wrong)

The original geisha were actually Chinese men who were, at times, saught after more than their female counterparts. Perhaps due to the fact that there would be no risk of pregnancy should they have sex. I'm unsure. And, traditionally, so long as the men sired children, no one was particularly against same-sex couples. In some views it is even seen as very natural. With the philosophy Zhuangzi, anything that was abnormal became entirely normal.

Modern China, today, is still pushing for same-sex marriage country-wide. So, no, China isn't nearly as intolerant as you probably thought, most notably with recent changes and pushes for equal rights.

That and I think games such as DA sell more heavily in Japan, anyway, which is... Well, homosexuality is almost revered in certain circles.

2)Marriage is often political. A conquering king coming into foreign lands had to win over the people somehow and establish a legitmate line. Attraction isn't high on the list of what the concubine must have. She's there for an heir.

I guess you never figured out that you didn't have to even accept him into your band?  Wow...

Anyway, it is canon that Thedas has gay people in it, and the people developing the setting haven't ignored them, either.  If you want to keep playing DA games, you'll have to deal with this fact.

...There's such thing as a gay personality? Why not just say he was a pushy flirt? Because he flirts with you regardless of your PCs sex and, ergo, saying he had a pushy 'gay' personality becomes null. He even says he prefers women.

Why do all these threads turn into fights?



The writers will do what they do, and I don't think either side has any real influence over them in this regard.



They will write a bisexual or gay character if they want to. They will make said character a romance option if they want to. Or they may not.



Regardless there are already plenty of varied gay and bisexual characters in Thedas, from crazies like Branka to regular blacksmiths like Wade and Herran, and even if there is no same sex romance option, there probably will continue to be all kinds of sexuality in Dragon Age.

I think we all know that if there ever was a character like that, fan fiction would quickly corrupt them!

I think that's why I lean more towards the gruff 'n rough personality. You don't have much room to tweak them without completely going out of character.

Of course, I don't want another Carth... Maker, no. It wouldn't be worth the effort.

Well, when looked at that way, any character can be corrupted.  A long time ago, I came across Baldur's Gate 2 fic that made Aerie's sweet personality into a front--she was really an evil, sadistic priestess of Loviatar, goddess of pain (!).  Of course, that story was written by someone who hated the character.

Of course, I don't want another Carth... Maker, no. It wouldn't be worth the effort.
