I am trying to make an custom placeable I built with gmax walkable. I looked through the default nwn2 placeables and noticed that they had objects ending with "_w" which i assume was the walk mesh. Tried adding that to an blank object that covered my placeable object but it did nothing.
how do you make an custom placeable walkable?

Technically, in the toolset "walkable" means the object can be walked through - not on... But since I am a modeling dunce there may be something I dont know...
You could try to use the walkmesh helper in the placeables list - it is scalable and you can change the height - not sure how high before the player cannot get on top of it though - that is what I did to make a dais have a walkmesh.

The _W is the walkmesh. The walkmesh requires a few things to work right.
1. it needs the _W suffix
2. It nees to be flagged correctly (Which version of tazpn are you using?)
3. The face Ids have to be set to the correct walk surface (to make the correct footstep sounds when walked on)
4. it needs the walkmesh material applied
5. if you want people to walk on it from the ground, all the nodes that touch the ground need a specific color applied to them. (RGB of R:0, G:255, B:0) the will allow the object to bake into the wealkmesh.
This tutorial explains how to make placeables using exportron, but the process is the same using the latest Tazpn Importer /Exporter

I was able to follow the tutorial up to the material id settings. Do you just name an blank material ( ID 1 = Dirt1) or do you import those materials from an specfic file?

Import any walkable placeable from the original game (Like the dock placeable) and sample the walk mesh material. When I get home I can upload it for you.

Awesome. I got off work late last night and jus went to bed when I got home. Sorry I didn't get that material uploaded for you.
I think a small tut for making the material might be in order.
