For starters I did post this in the ME1 help topic but it's relevant here as well. I hope noone minds the double post........
I'm unsure if you can see the games on my
profile, if not just so your aware I have this annoying habit of buying
two copies of most Bioware games. Once on the 360, then when my head is
on straight I buy the proper one, the pc one, as well. I've done it
with Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1 and soon to be Mass Effect 2. Herein
lies my problem. Rather than me waffle on (which I have a tendency to
do) Here are my concerns/questions about the PC sequel sequentially
rather than in a big hard to read paragraph.
1. If I bought it
off steam, do I have to get the second one through steam? I'd ideally
prefer no, I'd like a hard copy, it's a bit cheaper now (sorry Bioware!
In my defence you have had a lot of my money already)
2. Is it possible to back up the saves? Does it make a difference if its from the steam folder?
3.
Is it possible to back up achievements? I read somewhere about
registering the game using the steam key, but can't find it on this
site. Does this mean the achievements, once the game is registered, are
linked to the account?
4 So far I've have a total failure getting
DLC for the first game, is this probably due to me not registering the
game. Am I likely to have similar problems with the second game?
5.
Finally, as much as people will hate this comment, I don't particularly
mind DRM, I buy all my games so it doesnt bother me, BUT I read
somewhere that ME2 and/or the DLC for it has a limited amount of
installs. Is this the case? If so will it ever be increased?
That's
it! I appreciate that this is quite a lot of questions, any help will
be graciously received even if it is one word answers.
Thanks guys (again sorry for the double post)

All saves are in My Documents (or should be, at least) under BioWare. That goes for Steam or otherwise.G0rm0g0n wrote...

I'm not sure what you mean here. I'm no expert on the achievement system so I'll leave that for someone else.G0rm0g0n wrote...

If you don't register ME2, you can't use the DLC (as far as I'm aware). ME1 DLC is gotten two ways. BDtS (the first piece) is gotten by registering your game via the old BioWare site (there's links floating about) and Pinnacle Station has to be purchased via the EA Store.G0rm0g0n wrote...

No idea. I was under the impression it was a simple disc check.G0rm0g0n wrote...

One of my points is moot then as I blatantly register ME2.
So really the only thing I'd like another clever person to help me with is the backing up of the achievements or is it not possible?
