Could you please help me choose between these 2 specializations ?
I like playing mages not totally terrible in closed combat. As I understand the rules AW and SS are a good compromise, with maybe some more tank abilities with an AW...
Unfortunatly, I've read in the previous forum (before game release) that you could learn at the end of the game (if some special and unknown conditions were fulfilled)  how to shapeshift into a Dragon...
Can somebody confirm it ? Because if this is true, I would definitly opt for a SS...shapeshifting into a dragon...a dream come true Posted Image

I haven't seen anything about shape shifting into a dragon besides when Morrigan's mother does it. Maybe if you pick the option to take the spell book for yourself, and you're a shapeshifter? But I haven't tried that option so I don't know.

Arcane warrior is best imo, pretty much invincible.

Havnt heard about SS into a dragon. But might have missed that info. -hehe- Since I havnt kept my eyes on much else then Warrior so far.

But I've read that AW is OP since they can get more armour then any Warrior out there. Read it on a post for a day ago or so. Thats all I know sadly. ^^

AW is overly stacked if you ask me.... you wouldnt need a party if you built it right.
As far as i understand a AW with high enough magic to use the highest teir gear (which isnt that high) and the rest of its atttributes in con would be impossible to kill. Use hex and your oppenent wouldn't even have a chance....... they'll hit you for like 3 or 4 damage at the highest.

Arcane Warrior is awesome, so long as you're okay with being much more 'Warrior' and much less 'Arcane'.

It more or less just turns you into an autoattack bot with CC and heal capabilities. Not a bad thing, mind you, but it can be a abrubt change of pace after playing a mage so long.

It's not completely overpowered. You'll have a ton of defense, but enemy spellcasters will still be able to mess you up something fierce unless you invest some points into anti-magic magic.

You could specialise in both. Although Arcane Warrior is clearly better. Unfortunately, shapeshifter isn't as good as I thought it would be. If only we could shapeshift into a drake.

I love arcane warrior with spell clash (mana clash?) (or whatever its called). Physical attacks tickle, and can kill most mages in one spell, awesome.

But I do  recommend that not be your only character you play through with; cause breezing through the game is great but I'm glad I picked a more challenging class on my first run through.  Now that I've been through it all though its nice to have something that can kill things without much effort.

Personally I just went with Arcane Warrior + Crushing Prison.

Nothing like taking your frusturations out on an Emissary by stabbing them repeatedly while they're held in midair being slowly crushed to death.

So apparently nobody succeeded in shapeshifting into a Dragon ?

It's not possible. Not without some sort of mod. Any endgame dragon references were probably related to the Archdemon, who's pretty much a big, evil-looking dragon type fellow.

There is a mod floating out there in progress that gives you some dragonling/drake shapeshifting options. Hosted somewhere on this site; I found it while looking for Leliana romance bug fixes, if that helps. (I'm not trying to hide it, I honestly can't remember where I saw it.)

In my experience Shapechanger just plain sucks. Maybe I just don't know how to use it but the 2 times I tried it, I found it lackluster.

AW is incredibly OP and incredibly boring at the same time

it just feels like the class was not thought out very well before the game was release, the melee/spell casting mechanics, just feel clunky

if you want to be able to solo everything in the game, this is the class for you, just dont expect to have much fun doing it

What was the level of difficulty you've played on ?

Blood Magic FTW!
