I'm not trying to get on anyone's case here, but if the thread is about fixing those scenes, changing the title to reflect what is wanted is advised.

I remember the patch someone made in Oblivion, to remove the undergarments when looting and to expose the rest of the body was kind of realistic to me in an environment like that(it had turned out bethesda already some basic female chest textures that they had just blocked from access in the release & that a modder discovered form what I'd read). There were some extremely exaggerated ones that came after it though haha.



I never made it to the sex scene in dragon age as I've only played it a few times, if it really looks as corny as people have said in this thread it should just have been cut completely or done mostly through shadows & sounds. Those must be some magic props to work through clothes ha. Many movies have done those scenes without showing much and without being cheesy though, a blanket could work and be reasonable for censorship. To the original poster a nude patch and then a million more will be out in no time. Likely, even a patch just to fix the one scene and affect nothing else.And not just kids make them, though from what I can guess it mostly is although a few quality adult mods in Oblivion were made by someone named Kendo.



The reason nudity is so controversial in video games is because so many young people play them, and they are easily attracted to them and are a sizable portion of the market. Parents often neglect to monitor what their kids play compared to what their kids watch(or even watch these days, cough gossip girl). It'll be a while before it'll be able to be efficiently and appropriately rated, and integrated into mainstream games. It'll take a lot of time and effort on developers' & players' parts to make it a big enough deal, and it could divide the market a little or make less from games through alienation of customers because of the restrictions on how games with that sort of content would be able to be purchased not to mention how they would be promoted or rated. I think it's more practical to let the players focus on that sort of content, and for developers to release the games clean for the most part, look at the hell rockstar went through for hot coffee lol

The sex scenes(or just sexy scenes) in this game are quite good, and they don't show to much, but u know how ppl are, if it has the word "sex" in it, there should be a nude patch.... and personally, i could't care less about what some ppl think about sencoring, besides, if u look at how some female charactars/actors clothe themselves, like the ones in the cutscenes of Red Alert 3, or just shots i have seen of Dead and Alive, i think some ppl should finally grow up.. besides, americans always blow things up,... they make a hype from everything just couse they can.... not couse its reasonable....

I use that nude mod in Oblivion! It is excellent. It made that place in the Shivering Isles.... Xaselm, or something?, that more disturbing. Those human guinea pigs there were naked like worms and looked all the more helpless. It was pretty creepy!
I see it as the standard of nude mods - there was nothing really sexual in that mod, it was more like the same nudity you find in any classical art museum, so that I have no problem whatsoever playing Oblivion with that nude mod while in the presence of others.
....Except for the argonian race, though. I still think female argonians shouldn't have breasts, and male argonians shouldn't have visible external genitalia. They're lizards, what the heck!


Anyway, leaving this off-topic aside, I think that nude mod for Oblivion was a good example of why I'm fine with nude mods on certain situations. In Oblivion's case, it helped the immersion and, at last to me, it hardly seemed erotic at all; in the case of Dragon Age, I think I would like a nude mod for the improvement of the sex scenes this games includes. Mind you, I haven't seen them yet.... but everyone claims there's this very noticeable and modern-looking underwear in them, and it seems like it would be quite an immersion breaker. Yes, maybe a fade-out sequence is better than modern lingerie? :/

Lingerie is a stretch, and wouldn't add to the scene. IN THAT sense, nudity would make more sense.



If this was in Orlais, MAYBE lingerie... certainly not what we're used to though.

There will never be an official nude mod because it would cause the rating of Dragon Age Origins to no longer be 'M' but 'AO' a rating that few have heard of, because they aren't made because most stores refuse to sell games that were given an AO rating by the ESRB. That's why there isn't nudity in the game, why they have clothes on in the sex scenes and why there won't be an official DLC, but pervs make those sort of mods all the time for various games, so I'm sure you'll get an unofficial one

Simply put, the sex scenes would have been good and tastefully done, howerver, my gamers crystal ball has a large finger pointing at EA and Atari, they hacked up The Witcher so bad, it would hardly run, I compared the UK version with the US version, quite a difference, stop being so silly and prudish EA and Atari, or you might as well be producing games for only certain religious groups.

Actually, it would depend on which rateing group of the ESRB decided to rate it. Seeing as how the game already touts partial nudity and sexual content. The ESRB doesn't have solid guidelines like Movie ratings, it's very hit or miss on what gets rated what, largely based on the opinion of the individual raters. Devs for years have been complaining about this, and rightly so.



Beyond that, if you have the scenes that were shot already, and removed the limited clothing that is there in the most intimate portions, you're still in line with R rated, which is the equilivent to M rated games Hell, see more in R rated.



But until we as a culture stop seeing the body as something to be ashamed of, it's unlikely that this will be resolved anytime soon.

As has no doubt already been pointed out, there are other games with nudity that don't get slapped with the AO rating. That's just hand-waving alarmism.

Honestly, the "sex" scenes were so silly that I think they should have just done the fade to black and left it to our imaginations. Although Morrigan in a Wonderbra was definitely one of the best chuckles I had all game. On the other hand, I really don't understand why they couldn't have just made a Dragons Age version of this:

The wonderbra really was an odd choice, especially in a game that features Tarantino style blood spouts.

You speak the damn truth. I've always wondered that myself, why is nudity so bad in a game (especially if its rated M), but people having limbs cut off, being decapitated, and ripped apart isn't bad at all? If the game is rated M its obvious only mature audiences are going to be playing it, so why not give the choice to have nudity in it? As someone else said, if you are going to put in the sex scene atleast do it tastefully and not have two people in the underwear dryhumping each other.

The only thing I thought was strange was the exposure you saw with the female spirits and the demons but they decided to cover up the female companions in bad bikinis. It really doesn't affect me personally because the scenes were cheesy anyway, it just struck me as odd. "shrug"

The ESRB labels games with what content they have. If the parents don't want their kids seeing nudity they just have to read the front, back, and even the side of the game. Restrict us not but give us options. To sum it up famous words of my countrymen ~ Laissez-faire.

Anyway, the American relationship with nudity stems from our purintanical roots. They thought boobies and danglies and holes were evil, and that got ingrained into our society. No, i only wrote what i did as a joke, meaning if i could have stat giving underwear also. that i could switch around. like the armor. I could care less about a nude code. but i do wish i could remove the silly looking headgear and still recieve the stat boosts. They let you do that in mass Effect. Ecpsecially the mage headgear. it looks horrible.

You can play a naughty homosexual or bisexual character but not have nudity..?   You can hire a prostitute: man, woman, animal....?   But nudity is out of bounds?   Give me strength people!  Who sets the logic up here?  

And the idea of passing the test wearing CK thigh-cut underwear is the definition of ridiculous.  As bad as bikini chainmail, IMHO.  So is waking up to the sounds of dire battle outside your door in Highever and clicking on full armour in front of your opponent.  Where is the armour dresser...?  I could not dress in jeans and a sweatshirt and grab my sword to fight that fast.  Loved the naked in a prison cell cut to escape in full armour too.

Who sets the logic up here? It sure ain't about right-wing concepts of morality, is it?  The debate here sure isn't about morality when the character interactions teach homosexuality and massive blood letting are acceptable on one hand so long as it is done wearing underwear on the other. Choice would be a good path if Bioware wants to walk down the middle on this issue, IMHO.  After all, there is a positive point system for practicing the immorality.

I choose the choice of having the nude scenes the way God (and His laws of physics) intended.
