Quick question. Have you ever heard of the manga Berserk? Trust me when I say Jar-Jar Binks is a fine character; one of the characters in that manga is named Puck..
...who is arguably much worse than Jar-Jar Binks.
No, I haven't (except in references I've seen in recent posts). I just googled it however, and assuming this Puck is that tiny sprite-like fellow with the fairy wings...umm, yeeeeeah - I can see why you say that about him. My anime/manga tastes run towards horror and/or sci-fi, heh.

I vaguely remember seeing codex entries discussing the quinary having horns.. May be wrong, however, since its been a while since I've played DAO.

Probably the risk of banning other people who share the same IP and had nothing to do with the attention-hungry troll.

I already reported him to the mods themselves; not sure why they're waiting, but it may just be because they're asleep at this hour. Dunno. Either way, it's fairly bleh at this point.

I'm curious. Was this explanation/evidence available before we saw the Qunari redesign, or did it come about afterwards?Krytheos wrote...

I just think they tacked on those horns at the last minute. I have no recollection of them ever saying Quinari have horns in any of the codexes. I even remember reading the one about the Quinari, which just stated that they are bronze skinned giants.
If anything, the Quinari are already somewhat evil. I mean they are always at war, which doesn't ring "good people" to me at least. Even Sten says that they will attack Ferelden, and they don't seem to have any ties with Ferelden, so that is definitely out of the blue.
In addition, none of the Qunari encountered ingame had horns. Sten's buddies (in the Fade), all the Qunari mercenaries (Kadan Fe, etc), and Armaas (Silverite mines).
Actually, those can be explained quite well. Those who have abadoned the Qun -- Tal'Vashoth -- signify abadonment/desertion by ripping off their horns. I forget what Mary Kirby said precisely, but hornless Qunari are uncommon, but not unheard of; essentially, they are the one's with a 'special' destiny.
In essence, a Tal'Vashoth who rips off his or her horns essentiallyi s saying 'I make my own destiny.' The horns contain no bone structure as well, so it's entirely possible the Kadan Fe and Qunari Mercenaries did, in fact, have horns but ripped them off to formerly signify their denial of the Qun. As for why his buddies don't have horns, it would make sense that they don't, as being hornless is not 'rare' but simply uncommon. It is like uncommon loot in Dungeon Siege; you can come across a lot of that uncommon loot easily enough, not because you're lucky, perse, but because it's not 'common', which is the usual. So it would be unusual somewhat, but not to the point where everyone is surprised when a qunari is born without horns.
Those that are are said to have a special destiny, but that could mean anything. Mercenaries aren't part of the qun anymore, as well, because the qunari are an effecient species, and hiring themselves out as mercenaries is, likely to them, an utterly ridiculous idea unless you are Tal'Vashoth. If you're a hornless Tal'Vashoth, really you don't -need- to rip off your horns, becuase you don't have any. If you have horns, then you rip them off. Simple, really, as the horns do not have bone structure within them, according to the lore Mary Kirby and others discussed.
Really, the qunari aren't being demonized as I see it; they're being shown as they truly are, vs. the one's we -thought- we knew were the norm of qunari society.

I do believe it came from the huge Qunari thread that came out afterwards where thousands of people were asking questions about Qunari.

That they have horns.
Edit: And that not all would have them seemed likely at that point.

Do you believe DA's fanbase is too simplistic to accept an enemy who's evil is a bit ambigious, and thus needs to fight an enemy who, like the darkspawn, is evil through and through? Do you believe we the fans are ourselves so simplistic that we need this clear and cookie-cutter evil to be representated graphically by the addition of giant horns?
It's the other way round. Now they may look more evil, but they aren't. Qunari have a very strict sense for what is right and just, which happens to differ from that of most societies. It is you who simplifies by labelling them evil through and through based only on their appearance.

But on topic, yeah, the Devs came out with this BEFORE the redesign, so it wasn't as tacked on as it could have been made to be.

Agreed - he's making generalizations based solely on appearance. Hmm, must find that qunari thread again. I seem to have missed out on that Tal'Vashoth explanation and the fact that the horns appear to (edit!) possibly be a dominant trait in the qunari.

Qunari are a large humanoid race hailing from the island nations of Par Vollen and Seheron in northern Thedas. They have bronze-hued skin, white hair, pointed ears, and vivid eyes with colors like violet, red, or yellow. Qunari are considered physically more robust than humans.
In Dragon Age 2, it is revealed that most qunari have horns. Some are born without them, but it is not considered a defect—on the contrary, those born without horns are considered special, as they are meant for a special role in qunari society such as a Ben-Hassrath or an envoy to the other races. Sten, as a soldier of the Beresaad, falls into this category. It is not uncommon for qunari who betray their beliefs to remove their own horns (as in the case of Armaas), though the reason for this act is not yet clear.[1]

Well, the timeline thing is the first thing that I can remember. And that was what, a week or two before?
