I just finished my second playthrough (female Shepard Renegade) and wanted to romance Kelly this time. I did everything correctly as far as I can tell, romanced no one, talked to Kelly a lot, had dinner with her, let her feed my fish, she survived the last mission..but I don't get that one e-mail from her.
I tried landing on the Citadel, Illium etc., talking to everyone else on the ship, talking to her, but still no mail from her.
Help please!

I think you’ll need to ask her if she is into aliens (iirc...her Tali or Thane recruitment mission dialogue)

I did all the possible dialogue with her, I'm pretty sure of that.

I think the key to romancing Kelly is asking her... well, I can't remember where it comes up in conversation, but it's the part where she tells you that she trusts you implicitly and believes you'd catch her if she would fall. You pick the "I'd embrace you" option.

I tried the "romance" once simply because I wanted her to feed my fish. Unfortunately, there weren't any fish in the tank when we had dinner, so she didn't offer to keep them alive for me.

As I said, I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly dialogue-wise..it's seeming more and more like a bug to me.

Does it have anything to do with me having romanced Liara in ME 1?

I don't think so. I recall reading somewhere that you could keep your ME1 romance with Kelly, but I'm not sure about that.



Several dialogue options that might be relevant:



The "I'll embrace you" line.



After recruiting Garrus, she says something as wanting to hug Garrus. "You're into aliens?" line.



After recruiting Thane, she says he seems like a bad boy; you respond "some women like bad boys", Kelly: "do you?", Shepard: "not my type". (Not exact, but something like that.)



Took me a couple of games to get Kelly even following the guide somewhere around here. You also need here have her 'Thane' moment after the suicide mission, go to some planet then return to the Normandy, I think.

I never have any fish in my tank when I have dinner with her and she still offers to feed them. I talk to her just til the dinner and her offer to feed them, then I buy fish, and  never speak to Kelly again lol

Kelly offers me to feed my fish and I said yes but when I go to the Captains Quarters all my fish are
dead  then I have to go and buy new one's

What's up with that?

If you tell Kelly to feed your fish, but they are already dead, they will remain dead. Since most people talk to her before going up to the cabin to check on the fish, it seems like she didn't feed your fish, but they really died on your previous mission.



To tricky parts to get her romance outside of just being nice to her are:

* Start the romance with her by saying you'd embarace her if she fell. If you just say you'd catch her, you are on the friend path. She will have dinner with you and feed your fish if she's just a friend. She just won't send the flirty email after the suicide mission.

* At some point ask her if she is into aliens. It is here that she hints that she is bi-sexual.

* Make sure you don't have an active romance with any other of your crew. ME1 romances don't matter.

* After the suicide mission, make sure to ask if she is OK. If you talk to her after the suicide mission and don't ask her if she's ok, you've missed the opportunity for the romance.

* After asking if she is ok, leave and return to the Normandy. She should send the email at that point.



You don't need to ask if she's into bad boys as ObakaSama surmised, though that does help with the "just being nice and flirting" part of the requirement.

Does attempting to romance Samara count?  I'm pretty sure that's what borked my Kelly romance in my last save, the rest of your checklist seems to be covered.

Never got the email, did the appropriate chats at the right time, entered and exited Normandy and all.

I think you have to exhaust all dialog options with Kelly, not just "are you happy here?"
Probably the other one that matters is when she tells you about being a therapist or something like that. Tell her you're glad of having her on the team.
First time you take that dialog option, you should get 2 paragons points


I was stuck once, and after the SM I wanted some dances from her. I talked to her again and choose those other options. Then I finally got the email.
About Samara I don't know. You don't get the paramour achievement with her, so my guess is no. Not sure.

My current run through, it came up shortly after Horizon. I don't specifically remember if it was after Horizon or after my next recruitment (Samara, this time). But it was right in that time frame and before I'd done any loyalty missions.

Couldn't say before, though, as this is the first time I'd really made a point to talk to her after every return to the Normandy. I was tired of my fish terminating because I'd forgot to feed them between two missions

I have found that simply going from the CIC after asking Kelly if she's alright to any other deck on the Normandy and back is enough to get the e-mail.

If you've taken every oppurtunity to flirt, you'll get the "let's have dinner" option either after the derelict Collector ship mission or after recruiting Samara.

After Samara, tell Kelly "you're prettier" and Kelly will answer either "you're too sweet" or "I wish there was a chance to get to know you better" (this is when you get the "dinner" option)

After the Collector ship mission, Kelly says that if EDI had a body she'd give her a big hug, Shep can then ask "where's my hug?". You'll either get a hug or the "...get to know you" line.

Is it just me or is it a coincidence there isn't any issue with Scale Itch until Mordin shows up? Everyone blames Kelly but if the one investigating it is the one spreading it.... Mordin got some 'splaining to do.

I had romance with her one time. she was very unexpected in cabin what she did for Shepard. I think that her romance relationship is better than female squad members. at least she can dance. suddenly she became the ****. my God.

Strikes me that of the entire crew, only one person has a messed-up history and a casual sexual encounter scripted in, and it ain't Kelly...

I've done everything suggested here but yeah just like OP i can't get the e-mail. It is probably a bug or one line gone wrong somewhere or the fact i was nice to tali and that was seen as a romance attempt
