ooops, yeah, that's true. I corrected that in the OP, thanks for pointing that out. Well, at least in the video I used the right name :P

I did used to be a writer, in fact. Started out on Jade Empire where I was co-lead with Luke Kristjanson.

And Baal's done a good job of capturing the presentation. Maybe needs a few more winks after some of my answers. For instance, the Mass Effect answer is really all I can say. Never steal your brother's thunder, and all that.

And finally, yes, the change in stance to shield defense mode is carried out by firing up a modal ability. Similar to how we did it in Origins, just with more visual feedback. I'm trying to get away from the need for layers upon layers of visual effects coating your character like spell syrup, and the animators have been a great help in that.

Thanks, Mike and I realise that you can't answer anything about ME3. I found both the applause for the question and how you handled it rather funny :-)

It's just hard to deliver that in text :P

"Question: Is there going to be a Collector's Edition of Dragon Age 2?

Mike: I can't say anything about possible editions at this point."

Boo, I'm waiting for a Collector's Edition before I pre-order. Hopefully PAX will shed new light.

Oh, you could convert it into text, but it would quickly descend into superlatives and purple prose.

"Mass Effect 3, you say?" He paused, an eyebrow cocked as the anticipation in the room built, becoming a pressure that weighed on every shoulder, the crowd slowly leaning forward under the sheer weight of the potential of learning some tidbit, some morsel of forbidden lore...

So the February date is still up... interesting.

BW should have told Baal to do all the reports from the game. Only one who made me wish to buy it rather than the opposite.

Don't know why people bother to have a Q&A session if they would rather walk in circles than give straight answers.

Thank goodness.  A solid animation is far superior to having some over the top magical aura surrounding the character when it just involves some relatively mundane ability.

Because it's an opportunity to give as many straight answers as you can, and thus far better than not doing a Q&A at all.

haha, that's good ^^
You're right, but with a text like this, I often go into facts-mode and I stick to just what has been said and not how :P

Why did no one asked question regarding the new dialogue system?
I would have thought it one of the most curious aspects of the game in need of some clarifications.

Like:
How much does it differ from ME?
Will it still contain a certain amount of RPG aspects, and not force us pretty much to keep choosing the upper choice through the game because of immersion contradiction?
Will there be more then 1 icon showing behind the choice, like for example a sarcastic and kill remark?

Guess the whole dialogue worries are gone now?

Seriously some questions are just not open to anwser at this point in time. The marketing alone is genius, here we are now on a board talking about why they aren't giving us info instead of doing something productive with our lives like working out or slaying dragons...what? I mean...getting a promotion.

Agreed, but my concerns would be will dialogue be more like politicians like in DAO.  I hated having to figure out what my companion wanted hear versus saying what I wanted to say.  Mass Effect was very good for me being able to anwser how I wanted, and the companion maybe not agreeing but finding his/her own middle ground to accept the processed infortmation making it easier for me to build my character how I wanted.

Morrigan is a prime example that if you did not agree to her view then you lost substantial amount of like, but its ok I gave her creepy stuff so she'll forgive the fact that I completly disagree with her lifestyle, and still jump my bones.

I believe you'll find this much approved. Take a look for some of Mr. Gaider's posts about changes we're making to the relationship system for more details. Short version, however, is that questioning your followers is a valid path in DA2, not just generically appeasing them.

Probably for the Anime. Although I'm hopeful it'll be something good instead.

The one thing I've wanted answered regarding the dialogue which I have yet to see addressed is whether or not the stat based dialogue choices, like persuade, cunning or intimidate are still around? Or even some class based or specialization based dialogue options?

Some people, like me for example, believe the choice of an anime to be an excellent one.
But opinions aside, the only thing I can think of that would be better then the anime is a demo or a pre-character creation tool like they did with DAO.

I loved this. If I want to play in a way that clashes with a companion´s view of life, then see no reason why that person should like me. We just have a common goal. In ME Tali and Liara will fall for you no matter how much of a speciest jerk you are.

With Morrigan (and everyone else) I play with the limit of giving only their quest gifts (and the mirror). You don´t really have to agree with her view of things, flattery and neutral options work fine without agreeing in her Stupid Evil tendencies (was that intended or bad writing?).
