Oh I didn't read the whole thing so I didn't know he was injured. That's good anyway I hated that in KOTOR 2.

Also why do you think Aveline isn't a love interest? The whole Wesley dying thing pretty much confirms it IMO.

Several things, among which a lot of guys won't find her attractive (she's fairly brawny and muscular, which some guys won't mind, but a lot more will) and she's much older then you are by the time the game starts.

This definately reminds me of someone.

I dunno I read somewhere that the Chantry is in need of help from Hawke so it could be a demon or it could be a result of the God-Baby...Which I guess we'll find out in the Witch Hunt dlc if it does or not.

Only if you knocked her up with the Dark Ritual.

We also got a first glimpse of the new tactical camera view. You can't zoom out as much as before, but you can move the camera all over the battlefield and give orders this way and use strategies and tactics.

Is it confirmed that this is PC-only?

Gee, I always had a crush on Baal in SG-1 - tee-hee...anyway thanks for the info - nice read! My favorite class is the mage class, so I'm quite happy to hear about mage-specific finishing moves. Sure, zotting a zillion darkspawn in one go with Storm of the Century (or your AoE of choice) is fun, but it's just not as satisfying when you have to jealously watch one of your companions performing a finishing move on an ogre. I hope that death by dismemberment via fiery disembodied hands is as impressive in the game as it was in the trailer (or that there are other exciting finishing moves - I like variety when chunking an enemy!).

This may have been already answered, but could the OP tell from the preview whether or not it HAS to be the brother that dies?

Afaik, no. It was the PC version when they showed it to us there, but other than that, I don't know either way. Someone else might.

[Spoiler ahead]

They haven't said anything about that yet and everything but the Male Warrior was locked, so there is no way of knowing if that changes depending on class or gender.

Oh, just found something regarding the tactical view - good thing I'm a PC player, since it looks like it's indeed PC only.

Mike Laidlaw wrote...

As to the subject of tactical view, I can confirm that we will not be doing a tactical view on consoles, though we are looking into some expanded party control that I think will make console players quite happy.

On the PC, however, we are still working with the camera to keep the key elements of the tactical experience there. I was actually playtesting some new camera code when Victor found me, in fact, so I can give you the latest news on that front.

While we likely won't pull as far up as we did in DA:O, I have always felt that the key to tactical play was actually freeing your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise orders, which is what we're tuning now. So, this means you can still maneuver the camera around the battlefield and issue orders from a remote location, just as you could in Origins.

As you can probably tell from my phrasing, all of this is a bit in-flux right now, so things may change between now and ship, but I wanted to update you guys on the current direction of things.

I found Hannah "Hammer" from Fable II very attractive, I was actually kinda sad you couldn't marry her. But then again she was one of the 3 Heroes. Beautiful voice, drank like a sailor, and smashed like the Hulk. What a woman!

Of course, everyone has different tastes. I'm just saying most men would prefer softer-looking women, to be sure. Toned is one thing, bodybuilder is another.

Also, I uploaded a video I recorded of Laidlaw appearing at a DA2 presentation on the EA stage.

They've replaced Flemeth's voice actress with a male voice talent in the german debut trailer localization?
I  hope my ears fooled me :blink:

I knew there was a reason why I've preordered the uk english version right away
- you may call me a doomsayer but I don't wish to encounter the da o
localisation 'easter eggs' again in da rtp
- many weird german convos finally made sense in the uk english version
and all talktables were properly installed, again: finally...

haha, yeah, I find that quite weird and I'm happy I can select the language on the PC version. At least it's like that with DA:O/DA:A and ME1 and ME2, so I guess it'll be the same for DA2.

I was thinking of asking Mike whether or not that was the German voice of Flemeth, but I thought other questions should be asked first :P

I wonder if the death of party members or rather people Hawke meets and gets to know dieing will happen often in DA2. I mean the situation with the brother and the templar so early suggest that more is yet to come and a rise to power by any means necessary may indicate that Hawke may be able to influence if someone dies later on. In the beginning there is no way to prevent it, but maybe later in the game.

I think that's Jaheira's BG2 portrait, maybe the only one that wasn't an improvement over the original BG1 portraits.

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that if you play as Lady Hawke the starting party will be exclusively female? With the death of Carver and the Templar, that leaves, Bethany, Averline, your mother and Lady Hawke.

For some reason that really makes me feel that the game is aimed more for the player character to be male rather than female.  It's just that as a female, that's the player character sex I always use, and this makes me feel that I'm being pushed in the direct of playing as a male to balance the starting party.

Probably my issue I know, but does it bother anyone else?

I does bother me. I mean a party with just female characters? i think it's weird since i always play as a female too and if I chose being a mage it kind of gets the party off balance .
I was kind of hoping that the person who dies didn't HAVE to be the brother Posted Image

Well, I must be strange then, I always look forward for some good, interesting, well placed in the story male characters. But for some reason devs feel its bligatory to cram the party with female warriors, mages, rogues, rangers, amphibians, goddesses and whatnot. I mean, I like female companions (and appriciate there are LI available) be it Leliana or Morrigan but "sexing up" the party feels like catering for some other "mature" audience.

The pattern feels repetetive. This may sound a little bit sexist but men waged wars for a reason - phisical raeson. Nowadays party cosists mainly of female voloptous killing machines with huge pauldrons and a two-hander...and on the other hand zevranish boy who cant tie his own shoes. ;P

Ya, Hammer was cool. If Aveline is a companion throughout the game, I think she would certainly be a call back to BG2 as a LI.
