I see hardening Leliana as helping her come to terms with her past and what she's done. She doesn't lose her faith in the Maker, but she's more willing to venture out into the world (which is the part of being a bard she really enjoyed). If she's hardened, she admits that she enjoyed the excitement and challenges of her work as a bard and that her life in the Chantry wasn't really peaceful, but boring. She also understands that she doesn't have to become Marjolaine. It seems that in the Chantry, she was hiding from her past rather than coming to terms with it. I harden her. :)

Depends solely on the character I'm playing. just like whether or not I harden Alistair depends on the character I'm playing. Though I much prefer a hardened Leliana and an unhardened Alistair, but it really depends on the playthrough.

My dwarf commoner, who herself was eager to get away from her past as a Carta thug, and not become like leske or Berhat or Jarvia, did not harden her, wanted her to see that she could change, leave her old life behind and get away from her dark past. My canon mage, my DN, my blood mage, and my HN hardened her. Because, well, they saw it as better to follow one's nature and induklge in what you love/are good at.

I imagine other playthroughs I shall leave her unhardened.

I always harden Leliana, She is a bard and she should never have turned away from being a bard. Being a bard who used to spy on other countries is what she has done probably for a long time. Hardening leliana sort of returns leliana to the way she used to be. Hardening leliana helps her move on from her life with marjolaine.

I usually harden Leliana, and she usually returns the favor if you know what I mean. But seriously I want Leliana and Allistair emotionally stable. I would have my team of warriors focused on the task at hand.

I never harden her. To me, it's too much like telling her that people can't change or grow if they want to, and is basically the opposite of what hardening means to Alistair.

I always harden her. I think she's using the whole Chantry thing as an excuse to hide from her past instead of confronting it. Just because she's come to terms with who she is doesn't mean going to turn into Marjoline which I think is what she's truly afraid of.

Leliana doesn't seem like she wants to be hardened, so I don't.

If you leave her unharden she will remain the same as she is, uptight lay sister.

Hardening her causes her to be less judgemental of the warden and Morrigan. It causes her to flirt with Zevran more in companion banters, as well as being okay with the warden sleeping with chicks at the pearl with no cost to her aproval. She is also open to a threesome with Isabella, as well as a foursome if you let Zervan join in. Regardless she will admit the her and the warden are deeply in love.

Honestly I think hardening her is way better than unharden.

Depends on my Warden. If i play my Male Cousland and marry Anora I harden her so she will stay with him. Usually I don't. I let her choose her own path, this is the one she set for herself and I see no reason to rock the boat and return her to the person she was before she left Marjolaine. Esp after playing LS and seeing what Marjolaine put her through.

I've done both, and I prefer her unhardened.
