which formats, apart from WAV, are supported in the game as background/combat music?

I believe it is just .wav.

thanks. so we need to convert eventual custom music to .wav and also, accordingly to game standards, we have to make sure the audio has no "empty" (silenced) parts and to cut it in order to be ready to loop, isn't it?

.wav only?! That's like 10-20MB a minute.

I don't have a great understanding of it but .wav files can have a variety of bit rates, compression types, etc. The specific standard is PCM 24 kHz 16 bit mono. It is not 10-20 MB a minute. :)

you're right. a part of the process is explained here
http://bg2redux.stud...SoundConversion

but I wonder if this is only for character audio files (voices, banter) or also for music (background music)

I'm fairly certain it also applies to music.

maybe one should check with the FSB extractor and post the results.

One has, and they are in fact .wavs.

yes but I mean, the frequency, let me check...

it says the maximum Freq is 48000, Channels 2. this is for background music. I wonder if the rules apply also to sound effects, of all kind.
