"net start" just tells me that the service could not be started and that it did not provide an error message. installutil /u & installutil (aka reinstalling the service) did not help.
i'm using the steam version, but that should not matter. how can i start the service? i'd really like to play the dlc i just bought.
using services.msc, i get the message that the service was started but immediately shut down again.
what to do?
aupdaterservice cannot be started

Normally, this service is automatically started and stopped by the main DA:O application. If you run DA:O in windowed mode and open Task Manager window at the same time, can you check if a process named daupdatersvc.service.exe is present while DA:O is running?
