We don't know who that girl was or what she means to the story. She's probably just Bioware's choice LI to portray for marketing and DA2's lead female. The new Morrigan, basically.eucatastrophe wrote...

I should have said, "Hawke definitely was involved with a woman at some point and we can bet she becomes important."
Are you talking about the Hawke in the trailer?
That isn't canon.
Is it fair to say that?
The woman will probably feature in his (back)story so it is definitely something that can't be dismissed.
Of course, it is something that opens many RP possibilities so I'm not terribly upset by it.

I would never take the trailers or marketing to be canon, especially since the devs have said there is no canon story. I'm sure the woman in the trailer will play an important role in the story, but that doesn't mean it must be a romantic one.*
Morrigan played an important role in my Warden's life...yet my Warden was female and their relationship became sisterly. And that's a character who was actually stated to be the "face" of DA:O (unlike the "pirate lady").
*When one refers to being "involved with a woman," I interpret that as romantic involvement--just to clarify.
That's a good point; thanks for mentioning.
I had never looked at it that way.

Please refrain from making posts here again if you cannot be civil and leave out your bigotry. If you cannot, I'm giving you fair warning that I'll try to get a mod to deal with you specifically, whilst keeping the thread open. Thanks.

But hey, truth be told, as much as I do wish for there to be some form of recognition for gaymers in this game, I would actually still buy the game even if there wasn't any gay romance in it. I'll be dissapointed, or perhaps even offended, but I won't dismiss Dragon Age 2 because it might actually be worth playing by itself.
Oh and Saibh, please don't resort to using the term "bigotry" or "bigot" again, I'd hate to see the same thing happen for the same reason.

Anyway, I've made it known, I think, that I really hope there is a same-sex romance, though my general attitude is "I hope they include one, but they probably won't." so that I can be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed.
I also kind of hope there are dialog options that allude to the fact that you're interested in guys, if that is an option. It was always weird to me that you couldn't just be like "Dad, I'm gay" in the City Elf Origin, or that your family in the Human Noble Origin seemed to know you like dudes (Fergus using the right pronouns when you tell him you have someone waiting for you in your room), but still talk like you'll marry a woman of your own choosing.

To be fair, marriage for both the city elf and noble had nothing to do with attraction. You were going to get married because that's what you did in that society. Just because you'd your fun on the side (like in the Human noble origin) doesn't mean you wouldn't be expected to take a wife and father some brats. Or ignore the wishes of the Elder and your father (in the city elf origin)

Hey, I'm a straight gamer and I'm all in favour of gay romance. As are plenty of other straight gamers on these forums, obviously, but the more people disagree with nonsense like this the better.

I actually barely posted in those topics. And I definitely didn't troll. Unless, of course, disagreeing with someone's opinion is trolling. In any case, I think Bioware opened a can of worms when they allowed same sex romances. Now these gay players not only ask for them in the new games, I've also seen some outrageous demands like the request to make the main hero of the game gay (not even bi). Personally, I think this has gone on far too long and I wish if Bioware has made a decision to include same sex romance, they should make it active if a player follows a very specific dialogue (no flirting with male characters please!) or they made some kind of option to disable it completely.

That said, I really hope that DA2 does have a m/m option and that this time it is not rogue again. I would prefare either a more serious fighter ( though it would be hard to write a romance for the strong, silent type considering video game romances are driven by dialog) or a mage like Sand of NWN2.

This - sans the silent part, as you said there's a dialog problem there.

Why stick with the strong, silent type? I'm going to push my idea for the shield-brother again (detailed earlier in the thread). The character could be centered around the sort of vows and warrior/lover bond I pointed out there. The romance could be initiated by an offer to take the bond after the initial friendship, so it could be easily signposted. It's a bit clumsy, but some folks here seem to want things to be made pretty obvious. That's fair enough, I guess.

Honestly, my biggest problem with Zevran (really, my only problem with Zevran, he's actually my favorite character in the game, other than this) was that they kept trying to explain or justify his bisexuality. "Oh well the prostitutes and assassins and I promise I prefer women and and and!" Just let him be bi. Sometimes people like boys and girls, it's okay!MariSkep wrote...

Join Porn Sites for achieving your favorite romance in more real style. Bioware Video Games are famous for Role Playing, Story and Action ... not for its pornography. also Asaris doesn't count as ******-or bisexual because they're one gender and an one-gender race is beyond your comprehension you Punks ... so ME3 will be free from Abnormal sexual contents. DA2 is better to be in ME2 style of Romance so it will be best for everyone.
And you want to angry Fox News? eh ..
Conclusion: ME3 and DA2 will be free from ******-Bi Sexual contents. If any DLC becomes available about this matter, it will be for a price (though not too much)

I know what you mean. At first I thought it was just Zevran trying to put my fem CE at ease but when I got the same dialog with my male pcs and it just kept piling on I couldn't help but think the same thing.
