Zevran was not as bad as some might claim in this thread, actually Morrigan to me was harder to swallow then him since the guy gives you plenty of chances to turn down before he starts insinuating himself in your tent, as opposed to Morrigan who almost barges into your bed... and telling her to get a thicker blanket and leave you alone always gets you - approval even if you never flirted with her before.
As for the subject at hand, I said before I'm all for M+M relationships in DA2, the only thing I would prefer is if the character will have a twist to it. I sure hope the character won;t feel guilty for his preferences and won't be apologizing for it or justifying it to you over and over like Zev sometimes did, I also hope it will be somewhat aesthetically pleasing, and not two bears hugging (that's just my preference towards no eye bleeding moments) and it would be nice if they had some sense of humor at times, not a retarded kind like Alistair, but more of a sarcastic kind like Bishop for example.

. I would prefare either a more serious fighter ( though it would be hard to write a romance for the strong, silent type considering video game romances are driven by dialog)
Why stick with the strong, silent type? I'm going to push my idea for the shield-brother again (detailed earlier in the thread). The character could be centered around the sort of vows and warrior/lover bond I pointed out there. The romance could be initiated by an offer to take the bond after the initial friendship, so it could be easily signposted. It's a bit clumsy, but some folks here seem to want things to be made pretty obvious. That's fair enough, I guess.
I'd find the kind of relationship your suggesting really interesting to play through. Cookies for you. And muffins.

Also who knows when they became blind.
If they are a capable warrior I imagine they are independant.
Well....It can work in many ways depending on their personality I suppose.
It would be new for Dragonage at least.
They had only 1 blind warrior.

All the player needs is a clear and obvious way to decline without any plot-related repercussions. If anybody asks for censorship beyond that then they have moral issues that no writer should attempt to compensate for.
Small quibble, I think there should be plot repercussions for rejecting an affair or someone's advances depending on the situation and character. Certain characters (a bitter noble, a jealous Captain ect) wouldn't let something like cheating on them or flat out refusing their advances slide.
Yes please. In ME2 I couldn't even find a way to befriend Jack without it ending in her saying I was just "pissing around" and refusing to talk to me.
Shepard: "Uhh, what? I'm gay."

I'm sorry, but you are misinterpreting me. Please do not put words into my mouth, because I never said nor want anything remotely close to that. For one thing I don't even consider homosexuality to be a "mature issue." I kind of feel like you're making a mountain out of anthill here - I was not trying to imply that freedom of expression should be stifled. I said it was smart (PR, business wise) to have same sex flirting to be initiated by the player- I didn't say they should have to.shootist70 wrote...

I agree on principle, but that is not the case realistically. Not everything that someone could think up in their head could reasonably be put into a Bioware game. Though this is not a moral issue in particular. It has more to do with the comfort and convenience of some players.
You're essentially asking for mature themes to be treated in a very immature manner.

Indeed, but other people might not be so comfortable. It could easily be a deal breaker, you know?Arrtis wrote...

It would be an interesting concept at least, whether it be for a s/s romance or a regular romance.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm zeroing in a bit too quickly here, but the whole 'let's water it down so as not to offend certain people' really gets up my nose. Material for a western, mature, general audience may well offend some folks if they have certain moral issues. If so they should exercise their own censorship and steer clear, not inflict it on everybody else.

You said tailoring the game to avoid bad pr or something to that effect, didn't you? That's the same as censoring.

No, I said it was smart business wise. I did not say they should have to do it. In addition, it's not impossible to write a character who's personality causes them not to flirt until the other person has first shown interest.MariSkep wrote...

I didn't say you said they should (and if I did I apologize) I was only pointing out that both result in the same thing.
And that's still censoring because you're tailoring a character to avoid angering a certain group.
