My only qualm with the Zevran m/m romance was that it never manifested outside of camp. Using a mod to get Alistair was in some ways better (even though he still refers to the PC as female) because the relationship made itself known outside of camp, which never happens with Zev.

What do you mean? As far as I know, only Eamon and Anora, for very particular reasons, ever acknowledge your relationship with Alistair in an instance that none of the other LIs get similar treatment.

Zevran is referenced in every other scenario the other LIs are--with Wynne, with Leliana's BFF talk, with Morrigan's BFF talk, with the City Elf Origin, at your funeral (Morrigan doesn't get a reference here), in party banters...that's all I can remember. In all of them Zevran specifically can get referenced as a lover.

More importantly... Romances have been officially confirmed :o!
Now we just need to get someone to let us know if any of them will be s/s options.

Wait, something official happen recently, or was it the same "Of course they'll be romances!" we've been getting?

Indeed!
From the official game info FAQ on the DA2 main page:
"4.Will I meet romanceable characters?
Yes. You will be able to engage in romances with certain NPCs in your party and throughout the world."

It's not much but it does dispell the repeated "we haven't even confirmed romances in the game yet" response we had a few times.

Yeah, Zev gets a as much screen time romance wise as all the other LIs.

I knew that. Thank you~ ^_^ That was one of the earlier things confirmed in an interview with David Gaider, I believe.

Are we even sure there is GOING to be an option for male on male romance? I look at what was going one with Mass Effect and have my doubts, especially with Stanley Woo's speech about how BioWare is a dictatorship that gets to do what it wants regardless of the wishes of the players.

We've already had a taste of the flirtatious and dirty-minded rogue, for the next M/M romance I'd like a somewhat shy and reserved man (perhaps a mage) who fits into the category of "nerdy but cute". He is not aware that he is bisexual (bi since D. Gaider pretty much ruled out homosexual only romances) until Hawke "awakens" him so to speak. The romance will start off awkwardly, the man not being sure if he wants Hawke or not, but then there will come a point (perhaps after completing his personal quest) where he falls head-over-heels for Hawke.

I really liked Zevran's romance. Yes, he is forward, but it would be weird considering his past if he acted like a blushing virgin. I thought they put just as much effort into Zevran as Alistair, really.

I'm not sure why people object to bi LIs. The argument seems to be 'I don't wan't to share him/her' but in your game, you don't really have to. The PC is the only one who can romance the LI.

You know what?  That's probably the only M/M romance that could interest me.  I generally avoid the M/M romances because I just can't get into them.  They don't work for me.  But the awkwardness that could result from that would be epic and potentially hilarious.  Perhaps I'd play it out for the wrong reasons, but I think it'd be the first one that I even attempted!

A nerdy but cute mage sounds like a bisexual Kelsey (BG2 NPC added by a mod). I am not sure how I would feel about that. I am not entirely sure we are going to get guy on guy romances though. I hope we do.

How would nerdy be conveyed in game though? Thedas doesn't (as far as we know from Origins) really have any of the traditional geek indicators. No glasses, no scifi, no comics, no movies, no tech... doesn't even have highschool to instill that sense of peer alientation.
I think, unless some of those things get added, the closest we could hope for would be a hot librarian.
which is really quite fine with me... mmmm hot librarians...

I don't know. I thought Finn came off as pretty nerdy in WH. He had that sort of bookish, socially isolated vibe.

No, we don't know for sure, but 99% of everything in the DA2 forum consists of wild mass guessing anyway, so it's no reason not to discuss it.

From what we had in DA:O I would like him to look like Ser Gilmore or Cullen and have a personality that was a mix between hardened Leliana and Anders.

Or someone totally new but nothing like Zevran please.

I'd like him ideally to be a warrior as well.

But ... a mix between hardened Leliana and Anders sounds pretty much exactly like Zevran.

Nerdy mage! Or distant warrior!

Anything but a rogue, please.

I'd call Nathaniel a "distant warrior"--but he's a rogue. I wouldn't call a character's class the only thing tying them down to a certain archetype.

I'd just want a man who's a man. Perhaps a warrior, who is slightly reserved but you get him to, eh, so to speak, open up. In a non-sexual way. To begin with... ;D

I want a more quiet and reserved character for a m/m romance... maybe even a little straitlaced. A warrior for preference, but a mage would be fine as well. It would be fun to pull him out of his shell and get him to open up to you. Something a little slower-paced, maybe - not a straight-off-the-bat romance, but something that starts out as a friendship/bromance and only once you gain his trust and regard does the PC get the option to start pulling it in a more romantic direction.
