So, the man on the left is probably Wesley, Aveline's husband.
I wonder if he is available after some unfortunate accident concerning his wife.
Well if you read the previews you'd might be a bit disappointed in his fate.

Spoilers say no. Aveline might however be the new Jaheira.Russalka wrote...

Unlikely. Take a closer look at the screenshot you posted and pay attention to Wesley´s and Aveline´s faces. He looks pretty generic like a random NPC/temporary companion in DA:O. Aveline on the other hand has a yet unknown hairstyle and facial features that are way better than what can be created with the toolset right now. So it is safe to assume that we will be spending more time with Aveline than with Wesley.Russalka wrote...
I did know that, but because the uncertainty of Carver's and Bethany's fate, I assumed that Wesley surviving might be possible as well.
Just for fun.

I thought that guy was Bethanys twin brother. Or am I mistaken?

Carver is a Warrior, but it's unlikely that he's a templar considering both his father and twin sister are apostate mages. And that's definitely templar armor he's wearing.
Why he's MARRIED is beyond me, aren't Templars supposed to abstain?
Check the dialog. At this point Carver has already left the party.Eveangaline wrote...
Maybe he wears templar armor so he can pretent to be one if his sister has to use magic in public or something. "Nothing to see here folks, don't worry, I'm keeping watch on this mage for the chantry, I'm a templar yes I am, so she's not an apostate"

As far as a male romance for the male Hawke I would prefer someone similar to Alistair ( looks and personality wise). I always found Zevran a little over the top for my gay male warden ( though I still romanced him and convinced him to stay in the end). Oh and it would be nice if the character was exclusivly gay/homosexual. Both Leliana and Zevran were Bi-sexual ( though the argument could be made that Leliana was more attracted to women than men).
i like both of these ideas a lotPerles75 wrote...
With a limited amount of companions available, of course also the romance combinations are limited (even more so if, as in DAO, not all the companions are "potentially bisexual" but have their own preference). This means that someone will be necessarily disappointed because he/she won't find -that- combination he was looking for ("damn, Bioware, where is the transsexual dwarf mage I wanted?!").
Personally I think the possibility of some homosexual romance would be a big plus for a game, as it has been in DAO (and, incidentally, I was not offended by Zevran neither I consider him a sterotype - after all, every individual is different). Actually I was surprised that you could romance "only" four characters.
What I can suggest to Bioware, though, is to make this part of the game (sexuality, romance, etc.) more "user-friendly customizable", so that modders can create with more ease the combinations that are not included in the "canon" game.

And if they keep to that format its partially ok it allowed choice, though I personally still found it difficult to get the acheivment for Alistair / Zev as the concept of romancing a male character (even when playing as a female) uncomftable viewing..Jimmy Fury wrote...
If we base potential romances on how DAO worked then nothing would force you to play a gay character. We were able to get Zev's acheivement by playing a female warden and Lel's acheivement with a male... So I don't really see how anything is forced.
I should add its not about playing as a gay character or having a gay person in game, the problem for me lies in the fact I am forced to make romantic decisions to a male character, That for me goes against what I believe in!! hence I can play a female character and go romantic with another female easily because no matter how hard I try to imagine im the character My mindset is still a straight guy!!

So you don't want any romance acheivements at all? If so, I can completely agree.
But then I don't care much about acheivements. Still, it would dissolve some of the complaints if there just weren't any romance acheivements at all.

I personally do not like comparing potential new companions to old ones.
It means there will be nothing new, just same old recycled characters, if the writers go by that. Luckily everything has been written for a long while.

I think having a male love interest for Hawke is a great idea...but it's importance is being overestimated in my opinion.

While I most likely wouldn't romance said gay character, I'd most likely find a Dwarf to be the hawtness.

For some reason, all the love interests in Dragon Age: Origins kind of screamed of romance from start to me, with their younger and/or attractive appearance.
I do wonder if it will be the case again.

Guessing that Zevran would be the bi LI (if there was one, which we didn't find out until really soon before release) was pretty easy too, when compared to Alistair.
