True that. I did have to force myself to romance him. *shakes head* with everyone else I just fell into it. And yes he is worth dragging around just to get the dialogue he offers.
His dialogue when you find the Urn of sacred ashes is priceless.
Oh wow, I've never gotten that. Man he really lets you have it. ..So smexy.
"I'm going to talk and you're going to listen!" *swoons*
Alistair is an awesomely portrayed character in all his facets, I am unsurprised that he ends up being attractive to both sexes.

Zevran's being somewhat stereotypical didn't bother me, really, though I can see why some people would be bothered by it. I do, however, hope that if they include a gay romance in DA2 (which I also hope they do) that the love interest in question is a different type of character. Whether it's a macho qunari or something else isn't really important to me.
I concur.
Well, I actually hope that there will be more than one gay romance choice in DA2 ^^
Mmm what would be the perfect combination? one gay, one lesbian, 2 bi (one man one woman), 2 straight men and 2 straight women perhaps? good luck devs
(besides, Zervan is relatively stereotyped, considering that he's not only interested in men)

Doesn't seem bleak to me at all. I have yet to hear anything saying it wont happen.
Let's wait at least next week to see our hopes shattered

I've got good news and bad news for
you guys.
The good news: next week, we're going to talk about
inventory and followers in detail in a podcast.
The bad news: it is
not next week, yet.
So sit tight. I'll try to be comprehensive,
or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof.

it part of his character. i would love to see the rant if he only flirted with females.
(sorry, what I wanted to mean was actually "it's not so stereotyped as everybodz says, because after all he isn't interested only in men")

I frankly wouldn't have cared had Alistair been romanceable instead.
Sure some would've ranted. But on thse boards people rant about everything myself included.
Edit: We finally get info next week! yay!
Though I doubt we'll hear about s/s romances. We'll probably have to wait for reviewers to start leaking info. *sighs* Just 5 more months to go.

Zevran's sexuality was undisclosed until the game was released.

Judging from the last time then, we will know a bisexual romance in ~4 months, or so.

You know...I would be quite happy if Varric was the gay love interest. I do like dwarves, and it would put a nice spin on the story he's telling. (now, if he puts that part in the story, would he exagerate hawkes.........)
Well, there's obviously not going to be a romance with Wesley or Carver, and I doubt there would be one with a Qunari. So I'm guessing Varric will be romanceable for at least somebody, and "all rogues are bisexual" is beginning to become a Bioware trope, so...it wouldn't surprise me too much.
I generally prefer humans, but Varric's seems to be a less off-the-rack dwarf than Oghren, so I guess I might like him better than Zev.

I'd the the Qunari over both of them though.
And even if Carver wasn't Hawke's brother he looks too Derpy.
*wonders exactly how long it'll take for romance Bethany/Carver mods to come out*
...Probably not long.

Ugh, do not want Varric. I'd rather Zevran make a cameo so I can sleep with him again. And a Qunari would be verry niceee
A Qunari would be fun, though after Hawke would be walking funny

This for example is not valid for Zevran, which has the same background (and sexual inclination) whether one plays with a male or a female warden, and thus can be considered a real bisexual. (never played with Leliana but I guess it's the same).

@Perles75: The NPCs have the same characterization no matter what. Only the PC's actions may change them a bit. But sexual orientation is one of those things decided by birth, so it would make no sense to have a character be straight when you play female and gay when you play male. It just feeds that nonsense about sexuality being a choice. I'd rather the love interests be bi or explicitly gay, but the latter's not likely to happen anytime soon.

I was wondering if a character romanceable by both sexes must be necessarily be set as bisexual. After all, each game is a separate entity, so he/she could be set as gay in one run and straight in another.
I've asked questions similar to this. The problem is automatic meta-gaming. The vast majority of people (at least the vast majority of people on here) do not perceive different playthroughs as different stories. At least when it comes to the sexuality of characters.
It's the same odd logic that causes homophobes to blow a gasket when anyone suggests s/s relationships for Shepard and now Hawke. The mere possibility for the character to have a s/s relationship, despite being entirely dependent on the player to choose that option, means that the character must be bisexual.
Which is, of course, not true but that doesn't stop people from thinking it.
I would say you're patently wrong that NPC have the same characterization no matter what. If the PC's action can change them in any way then their characterization is dependent upon the player.highcastle wrote...

Hardening Alistair and Leliana for example, results in 2 very different characters by the end of the game.
-edit- not to mention that your argument could easily be used to restrict hawke's sexuality...

Highcastle mentioned that only the PC's actions may change them--and, honestly, you don't get a whole new character out of it. Alistair changes the most--but almost all of his dialogue, interactions, and personality remain the same. Making Leliana are harder person or Alistair care more about himself is more a worldview change, and not the PC directly influencing sexuality.
I'm in agreement--sexuality should be defined to characters. You had romances like Sky's in JE, where he wouldn't reveal he was bisexual unless you previously turned down two of the most beautiful women in the kingdom (one of the a princess, no less). He was always bisexual, but you didn't know it--that, to me, isn't a change in sexuality, but revealing a different aspect. You're never really going to see Zevran's soft side unless you romance him; Sten is always cold unless you befriend him. I'm not against different facets of a character--but their sexuality shouldn't change. Changing it depending on gender is cheap.
Also, Hawke is the PC--his personality is for you to decide. Anyone who used that argument to restrict Hawke's sexuality is taking it out of context.
