It maybe a character reveal we have no knowledge or hint of just yet. If its Fenris, I'll roll my eyes a little at the all-elf-boys-are-bi schtick, but if the ****** boiz want a piece of that hot elf meat, I'm not complaining

It never seizes to surprise me how something so inherently revolting as meat can be turned into a most delicious euphemism by a simple change of context.

Oh no!! I interpreted them as such  I just forgot to remove the quotes. It came across as snarky, it was my typed mistake.

Odd. I don't know why, but I thought someone said there was two for two. I'm just damn happy we have bisexual love interests for both parties. I was beginning to worry that with DA2's marketing direction, they would completely abandon their equality appreciation platform.

The product doesn't seem to have changed. Just the ads.

And if that means the casual frat boy gets pulled into the game due to all the blood, gore, and muscle only to find out that the game isn't some stereotypical male gaze I AM SPARTA BS with depth, story line, and equal appreciation for all players despite gender & sexual orientation... Bravo for Bioware :wizard::wizard:

I don't know... I could see Anders as being a bi option that male characters would have to draw out, who has hidden from his feelings towards some men in his life (potentially, he could even have had a minor crush on the Warden and resisted it) and Hawke will be the one to crack through the barrier.

I just know that I would really prefer a human this time, instead of my only option being an elf.

I'd much rather Varric, if he is a LI, be the bisexual LI. Personally, I never really was bothered what class they were (with all s/s LIs thus far being rogues), since it had no bearing on their personality.



That said, I'd rather have a non-Varric, non-Fenris s/s LI.

Is it pressure for gay gamers to ask to be included in a game from a company known to include romances in their games? Or have been known to include same sex romances in previous games? It's not a matter of trying to impose sexuality for the sake of it but wanting to be treated as equal to the heterosexual players.

I don't mean to come off as a militant gay, but the issue of inclusion and equality has always been a hot button topic for me.

'All genders and orientations' sounds inclusive of M/M relations. Granted, time will tell, but still, given that they already had all three of the pairings available in the last game, I figure there'd probably be rioting if they didn't do the same this time around.

Here's hoping we can take that statement at face value. I also don't think that straight + bisexual characters = all genders all orientations. I think the easiest option would be to make every romanceable character able to be romanced by either gender. 'Course my personal preference would be to make some straight, some bi, some gay. Time will tell.

I'm so not caught up with the info on this game. Somewhat intentionally; I want a lot of surprises, haha.

I'm so happy to hear that s/s romances have been confirmed though.

It would be nice to have some legit gay characters, instead of just bisexuals, but I'm not expecting that by a long shot.

One thing that I really am hoping for is a wider choice of LIs. It'd be nice to have more than one s/s option.

And my point is that it wasn't about ignoring or sweeping aside anything. Speaking from a content point of view, it's easier to provide content for a small audience when it's cheaper. I'd love to do a gay-only romance-- but considering how expensive our romances are it would either need to a shorter/less expensive romance or we'd have to be okay with having that much content for a small audience (and "small" here is by degrees, and has nothing in relation to "insignificant") which is exclusive to that audience.

And that's as tough a decision to make as it would be to exclude that audience entirely. These are not easy choices to make, and I think it's over-simplifying it to forget about the costs and think only about the emotional issues behind them-- if only it were that easy.

I am not complaining about having bisexual characters - id rather have a well written deep and engaging bi character than a shallow boring gay character or none at all of course - but it would be nice if we could have a chracter who was exclusively gay and exclusively a lesbian. Really really nice. Just so that we could feel more included, so we can more properly express who and what we are through the medium we enjoy like the straight fans of Bioware get to do.

I understand. The fact that something might be nice, however, doesn't mean it's something we can easily do-- or that us not doing it means that we have ulterior motives. Consider that.

I know this holds really no sway, it's a fantasy world after-all, why bring reality into it? But I'm going to do it anyways. But, as Kinsey hypothesizes, a vast majority of people are bisexual, with maybe a preference one way or the other. Very few people are completely heterosexual, fewer are completely homosexual. With 7 or 8 companions, the likelihood of you encountering a bisexual is much higher than there being somebody who is completely homosexual, right? It's also frustrating to me to see people complaining about bisexual romances, because it reflects a prejudice that we as a culture, both homosexuals and heterosexuals, have towards bisexual people. Just because somebody is sexually attracted to women too, doesn't mean their relationship with men is going to be any less meaningful.

That aside, more people in the game like Wade and Herren would be fun (there were other characters who I was like "They're probably gay" but I forgot). The only real complaint (complaint is the wrong word, I don't really need to complain about anything, the game is great, the romances are great, the writing is great) is that while there are Gay romance options (large stuff), which is awesome, there aren't as many gay options in the smaller things, that seem like they would be easier. (Random example, a female Dalish Warden can imply romantic history between her and Tamlen, whereas a male Warden can't....not that it matters, my male warden had a romantic history with Tamlen, whether or not the game knew it) Just random small stuff, but it doesn't really matter, I'm no writer, for all I know the random small stuff is lots of work too.
