Male on Male Romance for Hawke (updated - S/S romances confirmed)

Where was the discussion again? Don't know.
If there will be bisexual or homosexual romances, do you think they will have more than they did in DA:O? Or while they did say that Hawke is less defined than Shepard, could they go for that it is pre-written that Hawke will not dally in same-sex romances?

I hope the fighting stopped. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, bigotry is subjective.

Urm. I will have to respectfully disagree with you on bigotry being "subjective".
But more importantly, I think Gaider and other devs have stressed the fact that DA is not going to be Mass-Effectified, and I really don't think they will go the route of giving a pre-defined sexual preference to Hawke. In fact I believe Gaider himself has stated that this will not be done in response to a post similar to yours, but I could be wrong.

They shouldn't have to resort to mods to change how the game labels the sexual identity of their character to get Alistair to be interested in them, as I imagine that is on some level demeaning.
I always hated that arguement, just like in RL not interested means not interested - if the writer decides it's not in the character's nature then it won't be, and not even mods change that when it comes to cannon!
While on topic: sure, I wouldn't mind! (even if that would seem to contradict the above somewhat)

I don't know what I wanted with that comment anyway. A compromise? But I have seen extreme unnecessary activism from both ends, even the better one, at times. Ahh, nevermind. Maybe those yellers here are quiet now.

Yes, I would like to believe that is true aswell. Read the same things.
But they did intend making Ashley and Kaidan bisexual at first, but didn't, nevermind the obvious bisexual encounters with the Asari.
I guess I am far too jaded.

I think people just get passionate sometimes, especially when faced with comments that offend them on a deep personal level. But I agree with you, game forums are not really the best place to have drawn out arguments over these sort of things. I also think that its nice of you to try to find a compromise (even though I believe that the only compromise is to agree to disagree, since there really is no middle ground when it comes to things like this).
I think Team Dragon Age is very different from Team Mass Effect (the writing quality of the former is vastly superior for example) and I also believe that they have differing attitudes when it comes to their approach to gaming. At least thats what I like to believe. Consider the fact that ME1 came way before DA:O and they still had a gay romance in DA:O despite the fact that they probably expected some sort of backlash.

You mean with a big large spiky maul?
Because that's all I can see real Qunari doing.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm a straight male who never roleplays any of the gay romances. They make me slightly uncomfortable, not because of the concept of homosexuality itself - which I'm perfectly fine with in day to day life and non-interactive media, but because I am consciously and unconsciously acting vicariously through the protagonist. Since I also don't usually like hurting people's feelings - whether they be real people or fictional characters in a game - I then have the displeasure of disappointing them by bluntly that they're barking up the wrong tree, because no one likes a tease either.
So with that being said, I absolutely totally 100% support there being gay romance options available. Why?
That they can experience romance storylines that they can relate to and are comfortable with. I don't want them to have to have the same reaction to Zevran trying to get into my pants that I did. They shouldn't have to resort to mods to change how the game labels the sexual identity of their character to get Alistair to be interested in them, as I imagine that is on some level demeaning.
Thankyou for your insight. I created threads like these because I like to roleplay someone like myself. It has nothing to do with taking away female romance options for people who want it. I would just like both to co-exist within the same game

I should have said, "Hawke definitely was involved with a woman at some point and we can bet she becomes important."
Are you talking about the Hawke in the trailer?
That isn't canon.

Is it fair to say that?
The woman will probably feature in his (back)story so it is definitely something that can't be dismissed.
Of course, it is something that opens many RP possibilities so I'm not terribly upset by it.

I would never take the trailers or marketing to be canon, especially since the devs have said there is no canon story. I'm sure the woman in the trailer will play an important role in the story, but that doesn't mean it must be a romantic one.*
Morrigan played an important role in my Warden's life...yet my Warden was female and their relationship became sisterly. And that's a character who was actually stated to be the "face" of DA:O (unlike the "pirate lady").
*When one refers to being "involved with a woman," I interpret that as romantic involvement--just to clarify.
