if this liara dlc si the start of the bridging content, and is set after the ending of me2. surely shepard can prove the existance of the reapers now. we saw him at the end looking at the  data pad with reaper info on it. especially if you keep the collector base in tact and data from the normandy logs and stuff would also prove you went to the collector base etc? (whether TIM wants to give up info on it is another thing...)

should this be referenced by council in post game content now? is this enough proof?

i think shepard should take control of a reaper at the end.. and fly it right into the council chambers and say "see it now Aholes! see it now!"

Personally I say screw the Council at this point. You've given them every opportunity to believe and support you on their terms.

I say go public.

For politicians like them that would be far more terrifying and embarassing than proving them wrong in private.

So true:) Shepard could use his knowledge when being interviewed for example:)

If having a battle with a reaper and then having it rain bits of itself onto their citadel didn't convince the council, then a datapad with a picture of a reaper on it, sure as hell isn't going to convince them.

In Retribution the Council still doesn't believe in the Reapers, so that is most likely going to carry over into ME3.

I hope there is some kind of mission in ME3 where you have to prove to the Council that the Reapers exists. Like showing the evidence that the Collectors are Protheans, or searching the sky with a giant telescope until you spot the Reapers and then show it to the Council...

The Council=morons. That applies whether you saved them in ME1 or not.

If you were one of three making extremely important decisions that affects the lives of trillions of people, would you believe a bunch of humans who shows up and begins to talk about sentient machines that wiped out galactic civilization 50 000 years ago? A bunch of humans who doesn't have any concrete evidence? Even when they have Sovereign's tech they're not stupid for not believing it. It's too far fetched, even if it happens to be true.

I would personally love it if the Council realizes it for themselves that the Reapers are real. Maybe the deep exploration Quarian ship from the Ascension comes back and report on the uber fleet of Reapers on the way, and recognizing the ships as similar to Sovereign, the Council proceeds to soil itself and come running, nay! Crawling to Shepard!

"Save us Shepard! You were right! We're idiots, helpless idiots! Did we mention how wrong we were and how right you are? Don't leave us to die, Shepard! Where are you going?!"

Yeah... that would be sweeeeet.

Would certainly build some credibilty in regards to the council if they do plan to do that. They have to face it eventually, and having them go from utter denial in 2 to acceptance in 3 is a bit sudden. Unless they plan to keep them in denial through out a part of 3. It's just one game though, so the story won't be long enough for that to make sense.

Would be interesting to a see a plot along the lines of:

The Council privately acknowledged the Reaper threat all along, but were keeping their preparations off the grid until the events of ME3. They dismissed Shepard only because of ties to Cerberus, and they weren't sure if the Commander could be trusted again.

Or maybe Bioware has something else planned altogether. I just hope everything falls into place when we see the third act.

It is "just one game", but then, if they could handle the transistion from utter denial to acceptance in "just a DLC", then why couldn't they do it in ME3?

I bet this is the case. The Council knows the Reapers exist. But fear going public with it as it may cause mass hysteria.

I think the Council knows the reapers really exist as well. Certainly the SSTG (and thus the Salarian Govt) does. Nevertheless, I'd love to put a reaper into parking orbit around the Citidel and invite the Turian Counciller to a guided tour just to see his expression.....

As renegate Shepard I haven't save the council and I'm playing a Shepard that want humans to be the most powerfull race ever so he don't give a F@$K about council and he use other races only when he needs but he really don't like them and don't care about them.

In ME3 renegate Shepard should have more powerfull weapons and armors and ship upgrades then idealistic Shepard because as renegade you are selling the GETH to cerberus to test anti-geth weapons on him and you make cerberus take control over protean base. So you should have weapons and armors that idealistic Shepard will never see and won't have any as good as you have.

I think ME1 was better as a game. ME1 was 90% RPG 10% FPS and ME2 is 30% RPG 70%FPS. I hope ME3 will go back to ME1 type of game.

What does handing the Geth over to Cerberus really get you? Why would attempting to reverse engineer Geth technology (something that the Quarians would have a huge head start over Cerberus on anyway) be better than the main body of the Geth being on board as actual allies? Woot! You are slightly better at fighting the enemy you just turned completely to the enemy side by betraying.

I agree that they need to go back to more RPG. The combat system in ME2 was an improvement but hopefully they are happy enough with it now that they can spend the development money on actual plot (and sideplots).

well what else would you call them. I mean they either are 3 clowns that do not care what happens to humanity and the galaxy or 3 clowns that know the reapers are coming but just too lazy to do anything about it. Like.  after Shepard destroys the reapers then he can exterminate the council and put in a real council

Go troll somewhere else, for someone who never even played ME and does not even know the characters, you have no right to say anything about the council, go play ME2 and have your illusion that Miri is the best romance ever or your pew pew pew and poorly written story.
