Has anyone ever tried putting massive armor on their Rogue Warden, Leliana, or Zevran? I tried it once on Leliana just to see how effective she would be in it. It was the Effort Armor set.
Rogue in massive armor?

I've done it with Leliana, Nathaniel and Sigrun. You'll probably need to have them use melee weapons when you do.

I guess the question is, why would you? High dexterity means they don't get hit, and higher armor rating just pulls aggro when what you want are enemies facing away from your rogue (backstabbity stabbity). You'll just be wasting attribute points in str which are better spent in dex/cun.

You pretty much have to make a Strength-based Rogue, but it's feasible. I played through Origins with a Strength Rogue and I'm currently playing through on a Cunning Rogue; the Strength one was better early on, but I'm sure when I get better daggers Cunning damage will catch up.
A Strength Rogue is more of a scrapper character, though, not a backstabber. I was mostly a tank with it, which was extra fun.

I ran a NM solo with a STR Rogue a while back. WC armor w/ Cailan's boots & Gloves + Vesh / Rose. You're defense is only ~95 but 40% Dodge and 40 AC covers much of the shortfall. But unless you're looking for something different, DEX / Leather is a better setup.

My first Rogue Warden ran around in massive, but nearly all have switched to heavy armor instead to maintain RoF with a longbow.

I tend to play scrapper rogues, too, but then again I don't really bother with the concept of a tank and I still don't see the point in purposely hampering your tactical advantage. A str/dex build makes sense to me, but other than aesthetics, don't see any reason to put even my scrappers in a tin can.

I usually play my rogues as fighter-thiefs, so their stats are somewhat balanced instead of maxing on Dex and Cun as is the standard. I experimented with using massive armor but it causes too much fatigue and the forte of rogues is the many fighting techniques they have, so it isn't convenient. Besides, massive armor affects archery too much (heavy does too, but this can be offset with an ability. Master Archer). I find Wade's high-quality dragonscale armor (perhaps combined with Evon's mail) an excellent choice for my rogue.
My high-level rogues with balanced strong stats in STR, DEX, CUN snd CON are excellent fighters- better than warriors IMO.

I put rogues in massive armor quite a bit but only if I am running with more than one in the party which I do often. If I only have one, I prefer to spend the points in dex/cun.
A second rogue can function similarly to the non tank warrior and is IMO more fun and effective but they need to be micro managed more. They work best when there is an aggro drawing tank character in the party.
