I just bought a new PC copy of the game. Installed and patched it with no problem. The game immediately crashes to my desktop after I click play on the launcher. Please help. Specs as follows:
Windows XP SP3
Intel Core2 Duo 3.16GHz
4 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Immediate crash to desktop

Try downloading drivers for grafixcard it helped me with my laptop as masseffect 2 does not reconise my intel hd grafixcard on the old driver.

The Geforce 8n00 generation is getting very long in the tooth, and has been seriously affected by various nVIDIA driver conflicts, and possibly also by some recent Windows Direct3D updates as well. I believe you actually want OLDER drivers for that generation vis a vis these games.
That being said, I also want to add a comment here. Intel has not produced a single "card" for graphics since the disaster they tried to sell a dozen years ago. As defined, a Graphics CARD is on its own separate circuit board, plugged into a mainboard after the two boards have been finished. It is not an integrated chip buried inside of a large Chipset ASIC, nor anything similarly inside a CPU package.
Intel doesn't produce anything adequate for gaming, and is not supported.
