Guys like boobs. This is not a statement with which I take issue. Whether or not a character is meant as eye candy usually has very little bearing on whether I like them as a character or not.

I loved Miranda in ME2, and she was meant as dude eye candy. I am not a dude, and Miranda was one of my BFFs. I was less fond of Jacob, and he was meant as girl eye candy. I am a girl, and yet I found myself treating Jacob the same way I'd treat a very stupid puppy.

I don't mind revealing outfits at all. I like the option to wear sexy stuff for my characters. It's just the body shape that puts me off. But it doesn't matter. I'll buy the game and enjoy it regardless!

Do you dislike characters for having average, or, say, C-cup breasts? Are they instantly unattractive to you? Take Megan Fox, for example, since I know she has a special place in your heart.

There's no dislike, it's different "like" ratings, and they scale with boobs size!

Megan gets an AAA+ rating in everything else, so who needs boobs? only if she had competition boobs would matter.

 My point was, guys are completely capable of finding features on a women attractive (looks or personality) that are not tied to looking like a few ribs are missing and that having intense back problems. Average sized breasts, and everyone wins--women are pleased by their character models and men can certainly find their love interests beautiful. 

As you well know personally I favor morrigan, however you can't deny that that all things being equal boobs win, so why "dumb down" DA2 

On the other hand, some men really dislike large, unnatural looking breasts on every female, almost all women do, and the only bonus is a slight cosmetic one tied to game renown for its story.

I think DAO didn't reach unnaturally large, big yes, unnaturally large, no.

I think Thane was meant to be the female's eye candy.

Thane didn't get a close-up of his abs. Though we did see a patch of scaly goodness. I liked Thane's design. It was dangerous and sophisticated--very interesting, but not exactly sexy.

Right, and that scene where Jacob slo mo takes his shirt off for the camera was done for "artistic merit."   Though I agree that Thane too was meant to appeal to us girls--they just about hit as far wide of the mark as you can as far as my tastes run, but eh.  To each their own.  I, for one, will take mandibles over weird gill things any day :innocent:

But you manage to like her--love her--without breasts the size of human skulls. That's my point.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that clearly you are capable of finding women with smaller breasts--not tiny, just average--attractive. It was not necessary to your enjoyment of the game. Whereas, as a girl, I can only roll my eyes if my female Hawke is stuck with that character model. In one situation, everyone wins. In the other, many are offended, and there's only a slight cosmetic change to show for it that makes some guys think their love interests are hotter, when they would have been attracted to her anyway.

Exactly. It didn't, and still did excellently. People still loved it. It was unnecessary, and I saw more then a few girls complimenting the tasteful way women were handled.

Yes, an underage person could play the game, but it won't be more difficult for he/she to get his/her hands on a porn mag or a Rated-R film. And I would be more concerned about children being exposed to violence, I don't see any news program complaining about that, but when it's about sex, golly, the sky is coming down.
Maybe it's not the most important part of the game, but it IS an important part of the game, not "the sex" itself, but the romance. And the underwear is just plain ridiculous.
Look at Rockstar, for example, their situation is more difficult than Bioware's and I don't see them self-censoring themselves. But this is not the place to discuss this. It has been discussed many times already.
My point is that Bioware didn't listen to the compaints before, and it won't change, that's for sure.

And also:

Personality > Boobs.

I like Wynne.

You know, speaking of Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption had pretty much no fanservice at all for either sex and it was an excellent and profitable game.

It adds to the game.
I will not play a PC that is butt ugly because it will bother me that much.
Nor will I play a PC that is morbidly obese.
Looks matter as the game is very visual.

I don't think anyone's arguing that they want to play ugly or obese characters...obese wouldn't make much sense. But it would be nice--given that we're only going to have human PC's this time around--to get a couple different bodies to choose from.  It's less significant for the men, because muscular is funcitonal as well as sexy, even though there's no particular need for a mage to be built that way. But I can certainly see why someone playing a female Hawke as a warrior might not want her to be quite so buxom.  Besides, the notion that women with athletic bodies are horribly unattractive would come as a great surprise to the marketing department of the Women's Tennis Association.

Big boobs cannot be offending unless they've tattooed words on them . Of course everyone is capable of finding women with average/attractive breasts, everyone is able to drive a car, should Porsches be out of GTA?
