Would you be ok with guy oriented eye-candy if there were more for women?

And, in part, the value the video game industry puts in the male audience over the female audience may be why there is a two to one ratio. A little change isn't a bad thing, particularly when it can result in more profit.

okay then, give me your large sacked male or what ever it is woman want these days

Alright. Time to put up my argument.

This is Bethany and Hawke, you get a clear view at her breast size and how large it is. It looks like it's going to rip out of her shirt at any moment and that's while wearing what appears to be chain mail. While some find this "hawt" and whatever term they can come up with, this stretches realism when you consider how the average cup size have only increased to such sizes due to implants and growth hormones introduced into our meat products. This isn't "large breasts", these are monsters that stretch realism to it's very limits and then some.

I won't mention the health problems normally associated with large breasts (due to them being referenced many times and people simply going "LOL WHO CARES LARGE BREASTS R KEWL").

While I wouldn't mind this very much if it was limited only to Bethany (spare us the incest comments) it's unfortunately been demonstrated on multiple other women models in the game, such as your character's mother:

Posted Image

Including Aveline (can't find a picture of her without going into spoiler-zone, unfortunately) we've only seen gigantic breasts that defy realism on all women models, through assumption I think it's pretty safe to assume that every single human woman in the game will have breasts as large as these.

With this problem in hand, I lose sense of realism in the character itself because I'm being confronted by gigantic fan service whenever I gaze upon the woman model. It's no better than the plate bra or bikini. Add also that Female Hawke will most likely also have this and we have more problems thrown on our hands, why must a female player play a female character that has a pornstar body when she's supposed to be a fiercesome warrior?

Really? Because ME and DAO both did excellently. Without big boobs. You enjoyed them, did you not? You really think people buy BioWare games to see gigantic knockers? They do not. Sales wouldn't increase at that factor alone.

Again, did you dislike Morrigan or Leliana, or Tali, Jack, or Miranda because their figures weren't at the ridiculous level Bethany's is? Were you unattracted to them?

Fanservice can be done without Bethany's character model. You can enjoy those games. Best of all, everyone is pleased. Women are pleased. You get your fanservice. Everyone is happy.

for us: its: all men want 6 packs, we do not hate other men who have 6 packs, but strive to achieve that goal

...

Do you not see this entire argument of women coming forward and objecting to this ideal?

What you just said is: men want six packs and get six packs in their games. Men want big boobs on their women and get those on their women in games, too. Women don't care that much about six packs and get six packs in their games. Women prefer reasonable chests in their video games, and get big boobs on their women in games.

Something does not compute.

There are logical reasons for a man to be very fit in a video game--he is athletic, he can carry swords and wear armor. It is beneficial. It is not beneficial for women to have ridiculous sized breasts and do those things.

And I trust you have the proper figures to back all of that up, correct?  Because it's not like Dragon Age was wildly successful without these...features?  I don't even know what to call this choice BioWare has made, because it's entirely useless.

There's not any male conspiracy around, things reach equilibrium with regard to their market. If the market wants that, that's what Bioware tries to make, if not their bad because they lose sales and they should adjust to the market.

If in a few years time you don't get the games you seek 1) the market cannot support them 2) companies are stupid and cannot do their market research properly. If they keep doing 2) they stay out of business.

Oh I see, women in games need outrageously large breasts or they won't sell. At all.

I disagree that she is wearing a corset. I agree that the chainmail is positioned in a very odd place, but it doesn't look like any corset I've ever seen.

Dave, the screenies you posted made me realise Bethany's outfit is neither robes nor armor (wtf with the chainmail anyway?). Additionally, Hawke's awkward codpiece in screenie no.2 O_o

Anyways, why give Bethany such an outfit that only protects the front of her waist and crotch but her jugs are vulnerable? I am disappoint.

In any case, eye candy of either gender is always fine but please avoid chainmail bikini at all costs... The only way chainmail bikini is ever permitted is in fantasy ART not games...

Maybe it's the chain mail but near the back of her robe / shirt, I see straps of a sort. They don't really look connected to the chain mail.

But it doesn't really need to be limited. Jack is essentially wearing a strip of leather covering her nipples. Morrigan wears a scarf. Miranda has a suit that comes pre-crack'd. I don't object to any of these things. You can have fanservice that pleases guys, and have character models that pleases women all at the same time.

That, to me, clearly seems like the best solution.

You're defending outrageously large breasts by saying that it's what the market wants and they'd lose sales and in a few years time, the market won't be able to support realistic looking women.

They do to me. Besides that, tightening straps wouldn't really do a whole lot to constrict your waist. Corsets have to wrap all the way around and have ties that surround the waist that can constrict.

If those straps aren't holding the chainmail up, what is? They also go over the chainmail, as you can see.

Also note that the largest point of contention is not Bethany's model, but rather the great likelihood that said model will be used for all female characters, including the female warden.

If there are two or three models available, and Bethany and her mother are using the "largest" of the bunch, and the female warden does not, then the problems disappear and you can have your pointless eye-candy.
