Now see, asses don't really get in the way of anything much besides fitting into standard jeans. I mean it has to be really damn large to start to be obstructive. And even if you have the biggest ass in the world you can still breathe. Though you still might not be able to sleep on your back.

The idea that different clothes accentuate or de-emphasize different body parts is nothing new. In the screenshots posted earlier Bethany's outfit practically screamed "CHECK OUT MY RACK" at you.



In those, she's wearing a modest dress. But, ultimately, your points are valid - it's not like every female NPC in the game will be wearing revealing or sexy outfits.
