Also it could be normal for them to have hands in their noses, torip off ofquote Dave. The reason why we are willing to suspend disbelief about things like magic and dragons is because they don't exist in real life. They can make up what they will. If they use dragons, we expect them to abide by a few norms, but they are free to give them Rampages to their hearts' content.

Btw, regarding the topic, I generally think that the default body shouldn't be THAT busty, maybe a lil less. Today as I wondered in the street, I took special interest in observing the proportions of women who passed (for the topic's sake ofc!) and I noticed that the average woman out there looks less busty than Bethany, but not that much. I do think that a warrior character couldn't ever be that busty, to fight I mean....
Athlets and muscled woman are usually not busty, and as someone said, I guess that has to do with exercise. Being so, a woman who is a seasoned fighter wouldn't be like that. Ofc, Bethany is a mage, so no melee combat for her
EDIT: So, generally, I agree with Anarya on this one

how can a video game break reality. their are reasons why they made bethany the way she is. bethany is the product of biowares own art. just because it is not common it shouldnt be there? im fine with what they are doing. hey mmaybe they might have a character create option to alter the size of your female hawkes breast??

And there's no problem at all with a couple of the females in-game to have large breasts. There really isn't, and I don't think that's what people are upset by. The problem is that overly large breasts are the norm, which, regardless of this being a fantasy game, is unrealistic.
If the character creator allowed you to adjust what Lady Hawke looked like to that extent, I'd be content. But I highly doubt that it will, considering all the possible adjustments that would have to be made to the armor.

A video game can break it's own internal consistency quite easily. It has been established in Origins as well as spoken of by the creators out of game that Thedas is a very real world. Our willing suspension of disbelief allows us to accept magic and dragons, but within said suspension of disbelief is a caveat that warns "only valid for fictional elements." Elements that we are able to equate to the real world require no suspension of disbelief and are expected to meet the associated requirements.H_Itachi wrote...

And if you wish to argue that bust size is a fictional element for which we should similarly suspend our disbeliefs, then I should warn you that this rule is not a shield for terrible storytelling. Authors must still inject logic and believability into fiction, which is why the use and applications of magic is often rigidly defined in fantasy worlds.
Willing suspension of disbelief is meant to "awaken the mind's attention from the lethargy of custom," and to inject such modern-day physical proportions as well as the desire for such (as is custom in our world) into the world of Thedas intrinsically violates the rhetorical device as a whole.

I simply dont get it why a lot of guys seem to root for the big chested woman? Especially since this... specific anatomial structure let most of their action in actionRPGs border on the redicioulus side. :s
I for my part thought that elika from Prince of Persia was simply beautiful. True she showed skin too and all that, but i thought it was very tastefull.
Obviously her Clothing and the bright watercolours dont fit into DragonAge, but thats not the point.

I should clarify that just because I (like many men) appreciate and enjoy large boobs, this does not mean that I don't think all women are equally capable of being beautiful. It's a matter of healthy appearance. If your body is in shape and you take care of your health, you will look fantastic, no matter your measurements.

You don't think it is beaking reality to have a female warrior?
I agree that immersion is vital for a RPG. But I don't think boobs is the biggest problem. It is weird how much time gamers is using to make their avatars look like a Hollywood movie. I do so myself. But Origins was about fighting monsters all day, every day. And here we have girls with makeup and what not, and people
complaining that there is not enough haircuts. My self included. People running around looking like a movie star didn't seem to be proplem then. And we still want our Avatars to look like Monica Belucci, Viggo Mortenson or someone else pretty.
Sure Monica Belucci wouldn't last long in a fight, but tell me one female who would? Are we to simply remove the female party member, because when all is said and done, no one really believes a female to be as strong, as the warden? Heck I don't even believe a man to be as strong as the warden. That is simple
unbelievable. If it was to a be a tiny bit believable, you would have ridicously ugly characters, with scars all over, wounds with infection and then we would have to wave our Hollywood avatars goodbye.
I prefer the fantasy where the men look like Viggo, and the women look like Monica. When all that is said and done, I would like if there where different body shapes. But we know Bioware won't do that, so therefore they are making it possible for us to make our Hollywood avatars. And besides, not all NPC's will look like Beth in her chain corset. Just look how she looks in her blue mage robe:

She is beautiful, not only in physical appearance, but in the way she moves as well. Her lighter than air animations grant her a beauty that exceeds the jiggling of DOA. Elika is the best part of that game.
This is the kind of eye candy I would welcome in Dragon Age 2- beauty that isn't just sexual.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to respectfully, and completely disagree with there. There is no suspension of disbelief that women are capable of fighting. Women can be fighters and warriors.
