To be fair though the Mass Effect team seemed to be much more focused on the bottom half of their female characters. What they took off at the top they well more then made up for below.

People will have different ideas about what marks the far end of the spectrum, but I get what you're saying. My ideal FemHawke would look like Captain Soi Fong from Bleach (and men all over the world disagree with me), so I would love a lithe and muscular Hawke. I don't want to repeat myself, so in summation I just think it had to be made clear that the wording we use when discussing our ideal Hawke should chosen with a certain delicacy as it we may inadvertently be offending real people when we are talking about pixels and what we want them to represent. 

Fair enough and I will add that I would very much like to play a Hawke with Soi Fong's body type. But I'll admit also that Yoruichi is one of my favorite characters from Bleach and she is, um, extremely well-endowed.

I was sad that Yoruichi got pwned so easily by Aizen D:, I was waiting for that showdown for aaaages (and I was happy that Soi Fong got to feature in two major battles with the Espada) but on topic I hope that FemHawke gets muscle definition (the default in Origins was toned, but you didn't see much in terms of muscle so we can guess that maybe she didn't get enough protein). No matter what breast size they finally give us, any human who has to endure fighting darkspawn every five minutes and walking and walking and walking should look RIPPED, seriously, Bioware, come on.

I thought that one  vice captain was extremely well endowed....yoruichi is really at bethany sized breasts.

Thats Matsumoto. Her breasts are the biggest (I think) in Bleach.

Now that's out of the way, I can't see any reason why would any man, straight or otherwise, would object to any manner of eyecandy for females. If they want sexy outfit, why not? If they want the governor of California, why not? I don't know, if they want an anaconda in panties, why not? I don't suppose the average role-playing gamer would give much thought to female bust size or male bulk when picking up DA2. Am I wrong? Is it really that important?

And if, somewhere down the line, BioWare (or EA, I don't know) decides to add things like bust/ab/crotch sliders to DA2, I would by no means object, but this is Dragon Age, not Sims. There is supposed to be more to Thedas than varying body proportions.

See, you raise a good point. If a character has a unique voice I usually pay more attention to them then others.

Have good looking characters by all means, but dragon age is an awesome story based game, it's hard to take a story seriously when characters are weirdly proportioned and running around half naked.

Alright, I'll voice this as a separate concern, something I've posted before, and don't want to have to rephrase:

I think that when we argue that women shouldn't wear chainmail bikinis or have bazooka breasts, men (and sometimes the women arguing the point) forget we aren't saying that all sexuality should be removed from the game. Would plate armor really look like Hilde's? No. But that character was specifically designed to be beautiful and covered up. (Compare Ivy from the first game, to Ivy from the most recent.) I don't mind how Hilde's armor is. I think it's lovely, personally. And, best of all, guys can like it to.

I've said this a few times, but, guys, do you honestly dislike characters for having average-sized breasts? You might think a character is hotter when she has bigger boobs, but do you dislike her for being average? Or not gargantuan? I doubt it. You guys appreciate boobs. That's what I was raised to believe.

But, on the reverse side, I see girls comment a lot on how pleased they were with the respectable treatment of females in DAO. And now, looking at Bethany's model, we're really hoping that it changes, or that's not the norm.

It's just a matter of making everyone happy, or making some men slightly happier and getting on the bad side of a lot of women.

I never said it was a requirement to be attractive that they show skin and have large breasts. I simply said men are more attracted to visual eye candy then women are.

Tali is easy to explain, the fact that you haven't seen any skin is what makes her so appealing to so many people. The forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest and by concealing her within that suit Bioware has effectively made her that. Sure there is more to her then that, she's got a really cute personallity and she has a very attractive accent; but I would be willing to bet that if/when Bioware finally shows what she looks like the Tali Fanatics Club will lose more then a few members. (Which is why I personally don't think we will ever see a Quarian outside their suits.)

I'm not sure how your Gauging Morrigan as DAO's most popular love interest but assuming your correct I feel obligated to point out that of the two Female romantic interests (Morrigan and Lilianna) Morrigan model is more fleshed out. Lilianna just came off as a generic NPC model upon my first playthrough. There is nothing visually unique about her, she looked just like the million other human females in the game with her biggest differentiating factor being her red hair. Then add in that she is a religious fanatic and most of her conversational options involve huge long drawn out stories that have nothing to do with games main storyline; or even side storylines really. (Background information on the DA universe sure, and don't get me wrong they are well written; but I geek out on things like that whereas not everyone does).

For the record I want to state that I have no problem with what Beth is wearing in that shot. It's not overly revealing (whether it's practical for battle is another story, but we had the Dalish armor in Origins so whatever) and I'm not asking for turtlenecks and parkas on all women, nor am I asking for all women in-game to be plain.



But the point about the male voices being attractive to ladies is a good one. Though I've heard a lot of love for Claudia Black and Leliana's accent from the men around here too.

Certain aspects of the male form are not going to scar my mind for life if I only get a glimpse. If you are a guy that is petrified of the male form, you are probably just too afraid liking the male form too much to ever want to see it.

Bethany as well as Bethany+Hawke's Mother seem to be a tad bit exaggerate. I hope that is not a trend. I also hope the ladies here get a little bit of what they want in the male form in DA2.

Does that sound ok to you ladies?

Pft. Maybe not the perma-lock but the first few threads that I went to investigate after people were talking about how bad it was and I found photos that were linked from that one Rule 34 website.
