I respectfully disagree, and this is coming from a woman who successfully made one of her male buddies tap out during a playful wrestling match.  Oh, and he did have about 30 pounds on me.  It's really not that hard to cut off air flow if you're in shape and inventive.Image IPB

tap out? then this would be submission wrestling, not wrestling. Iirc greco-roman & freestyle wrestling doesn't have a women's division in the olympics.

In any case, there's a reason why women and men don't fight together in boxing, wrestling and mma, even if their weight is the same. It's not that women can't physically fight but in a bare hands fight they are at disadvantage against a man of the same weight who is as trained. Of course none of this really matters in "war" (eg in a 4 person squad where people are armored and can use magic) because weapons & tactics phase much of this out.

There ARE physical differences between man and woman. And Anyone claiming that Woman are in generell as physically strainable as man simply denie the facts. I give u that.
But that doesnt mean there is no use for females on a battlefield if there are man on it. Hand a woman a bow and some arrowd and she can kill as easly as any man. Or train her to use weapons that are made for exploiting weakpoints of armor. (Rapiers, Daggers, Poisoned Blades of all kind etc)
Bascially all kind of warfare were raw strenght and stamina doesnt count as much. And ye, i am pretty sure there are lots of this kind of weapons/ fightingstyles that support that kind of warfare.

I said that in my initial post, a battle is different to a bare hands fight, US army uses women successfully in all operations these days.

i just wanted to point out they can be as effective as any man on the battlefield. And they can face off man for that matter too.

A male warrior vs a female one, male wins every time. Everyone knows this <.<..
Also I've tapped out against female friends or let them hit me. Doesn't mean they're stronger.

Well, you don't sound sexist at all.

I can't say anything about grappling as I try to avoid it - Yes, I acknowledge that I would be at a (admittedly large) disadvantage - but it's a different story when it's straight on fighting. I fight men. Often. In fact, I prefer fighting men as opposed to women. Why? Because, truthfully, yes, men will underestimate me and they do.

And then they end up with some busted ribs and a busted jaw, and wonder what happened.

Men do not automatically win, not if the women they are fighting are trained properly and know how to play up their advantages.

Women fighters can be like the Spanish Inquisition like that.

I like to think I am good at taekowdo and I have lost to women  :innocent:.

I've seen a female black belt win against a male black belt before. So that automatically disproves his 100% win vs women theory.

"High school girls discussing wang sizes. We've officially hit rock bottom, gentlemen." - thank you Rifftrax.

The fact that there has been a discussion on breast sizes for 62 pages makes me realize how much sex works in the media. *Might not like it, but you're discussing iiiiit!*

And all of Bioware assemble and laugh at what they've stirred up.

But, then again, if breast sizes are the biggest complaints of the community, there must not be that much we have to fear from this game ...

On the most part? No. When was the last time you saw a genuinely athletic women, such as a swimmer or a gymnast, with large breasts? If you are constantly active, constantly working out - which presumably both Hawkes will be doing - the fat in the breasts gets used up. No more big breasts.

So, yes, for me, it is a bit game breaking to have every. single. female with large breasts. Particularly those who are warriors and rogues.

Heroic is not the same as athletic, also specifically Bethany is a mage after all, not a warrior.

And you avoid this nifty thing:

It's hard for some of us to immerse ourselves in a respectable female character who is meant to be some heroic icon, fierce and worthy of note, only to have some unrealistic eye-candy slapped on her chest that we really won't enjoy. Regardless of whether or not it was the designer's intention, if it turns out Lady Hawke will have a chest as large as Bethany, it will feel like that they weren't thinking about the female player. Instead, it will feel like they were thinking about the men who prefer to play as women.

Regardless of whether or not large breasts need an excuse, it still feels like that the developers have placed their female demograph second, and that Lady Hawke will most likely be as endowed as Bethany. Why does that bother me? I already said why, and I highly doubt I'm alone.

You can't really argue that, it's hard to extrapolate from a forum, sample's too small to see if women mind boobs or not.

Hawke is rising up to seize power, most likely by brutal force if the title Champion of Kirkwall is anything to go by.  And what of the mother who, too, has large breasts that should be sagging but aren't?

And we don't mind breasts. Really, we don't. We don't mind large breasts either. But a lot do mind when every woman seems to have them, regardless of lifestyle and how active they are in life.

Regardless, I didn't say all women would agree with me. I said that I doubt I was alone in feeling that all women having large breasts is unrealistic, and that people would be disappointed if Lady Hawke carried the same genes as Bethany.. If this topic, and the former "This Thread is About Boobs" topic is anything to go by, then I wasn't exaggerating my assumption.

Hawkes moms boobs WERE saggy IMO and we've only seen what 3 women from screen shots? and correct me if i'm wrong but aveline was almost completley flat chested

I'd say that's a good thing for a warrior woman. I certainly dig it.

Considering the one advantage male fighter has on average over female is the body/muscle mass and that, surprise, surprise, it is possible and doable for smaller male to take out bigger one in a fight when both are "trained fighters", i'm not sure what makes you believe a woman would be utterly incapable of the same feat.

Even in the same weight divisions Women wouldn't stand a chance. The reason is testosterone.

But I'm not going to argue this further and go away from OT. You guys just need to understand reality a little.

Alright, time for a little lesson on what an sexism is.

Despite what the dictionary lists (for it has not kept up with social movements), it is not sexist in the slightest that any character, male or female, was used for eye-candy.  Saying antagonistic things to a person of either gender is also not sexist; in the case of women, it's called misogyny, and in men, misandry.  I guess bigotry might apply, though "male" and "female" is not really a belief or idea against which once can stubbornly disbelieve.

Sexism is the systematic oppression of one gender by a person of power or authority of the other gender.  If a woman's boss tells her to make him a sandwich, then it is not a sexist sentiment.  If he refuses to even hire her in the first place because of her gender, then it is.  There's not many reverse examples that don't involve fanatic feminists.

I don't bring this up for any feminist movement, because I actually strongly disagree with most feminist opinions, but I hate it when people use strong buzz words to make their positions seem more authoritative.

yes they are, else US army wouldn't be using them. For a bare hands fight (e.g. queensbury rules or mma rules) though, unless there is a considerable gap in physique or technique, I can't agree, separate divisions are there for a reason.

Well, this IS a biggest complaint since it has to do with immersion you see... Hm. Have you played Conan, a PS3/360 game? We have exactly Conan syndrome here. Beefed men and slim women with huge breasts.

Conan style is getting old. We should move on... And as far as I know DA is supposed to differ from stereotypical fantasy...

If you knew as much as you claim to, then you would know, especially in the martial arts, that strength is not everything. In fact, the majority of martial arts, regardless of whether or not it's mixed, is based on technique and speed.

In same weight division women stand a good chance. Testosterone is the reason men can build their muscular mass much easier than women.
