Would you be ok with guy oriented eye-candy if there were more for women?

I'd listen to a man voiced by Corrine Kempa like a heart struck school girl but once he made clear his intentions to move things in an intimate direction I have a feeling something else would quickly grab my attention and I'd... be...

Wait is that something shiny way over there!? I'd better go check it out! Stay here and guard the camp man with strangly attractive voice and accent! I'll be right back!

I've said this a few times, but, guys, do you honestly dislike characters for having average-sized breasts? You might think a character is hotter when she has bigger boobs, but do you dislike her for being average? Or not gargantuan? I doubt it. You guys appreciate boobs. That's what I was raised to believe.

All other things being equal, bigger boobs win.

But you didn't answer her question Image IPB

I kind of did. People have different personality tastes and if you average those out, boobs stay king.

She wasn't asking if you like bigger ones better, she asked if you would dislike the characters if they didn't have huge boobs.

Personally it doesn't make a difference the appeal a girl has to me. A lot of guys I have talked to, it does matter but I really don't understand it.  Characters also don't look better in my opinion for having larger breast, but I also think that many people have the wrong impression of what beauty is.. I doubt that in DA2 they will make a different model for female characters than the one seen, (they would need to add a new model for all armor) but we can hope, eh?

things aren't 0 or 1. I answered that boobs do play a role to get from 0 to 1.

I would put out there that the body type of most men in the Dragon Age or any other gaming universe does not come to many men naturally, yet there it is.

I agree. Usually the body types are similar/identical. Unless the character is special. I would not be too surprised if there aren't many different bodytypes in DA 2. Why? Because it takes less space.

Captain Hex wrote...
How often does a woman of any breast size "frequently lift swords and wear armor and traverse countries"? What kind of a question is that?

Good question.(From you)
And how often does a man "frequently lift swords and wear armor and traverse countries?" Not very often I'd guess.

I'm not affronted that the smaller chested body type of DA:O exists either. I was, however, happy when I saw Bethany because it seemed as though in DA2, I could perhaps play a character who looked more like myself. I, however have never felt the need complain about how awful it is to have to pretend to be a small breasted woman, because it is not awful, women come in all sizes. I understand people not wanting to play a character with features that are only there for someone's supposed titilation or "eye candy", but for me I just saw it as a chance to play myself. I am not "eye candy" :(

For your sake I hope you'll be able to play as a character you'd want to play with.

Everyone says stuff like this.  It's truly in the proverbial eye and the things you like aren't any more profound or relevant than the things that someone else likes.  Even if they like *gasp* platinum blondes with big fake boobs and fake tans.

Goodness, no.  Me neither.  I'd also add no more ridiculous slow body panning while we're at it.

On the topic of body image, I'd say that clothing/armor plays a huge factor in sexualization as well in games.  It just isn't body porportions.  You can have a reasonably buxom woman in full plate and get a pass with me, but put her in an outfit like Ivy's (from Soul Claibur) or have her girls hanging out (and her throat/neck/stomach areas exposed) and it just kills it for me.

Voice, face, humor, hands, biceps, the way a fellow moves, are very attractive to me on men.  Attire that flatters and form-fits his figure, too, rather than hides it.

But do women 'like' well-muscled men similar to how men 'like' buxom women? Just a devil's advocate question.

No. Not personally. But I don't really pay much attention to their bodies. Of course if they were too big, then it would be a turn off.

Oh and Miranda was a great femme fatale character. Hyperbolic sexy goes with the whole idea of what she was supposed to be.

i don't think it should be viewed as some kind of competition of "which gender does BioWare like most?" that's just silly. And proportions are a matter of artistic style. The fantasy genre has long has the well-muscled man and the buxom woman; they are idealized figures.

Keep Bethany's boobs the way they are. This is fantasy people, and quite frankly, her figure is perfectly believable.

We don't need Hawke looking like a computer nerd anymore than we need mousy, freckled women casting fireballs and wielding swords.

Bioware has superb character artists. Let them do their thing. I'd bet they're more qualified in this area than anyone posting in this thread.

You're a better man than me, sir. *salutes*

Actually he contributes to boobs being king as much as you. Get a collection of people who value personality more, their tastes will be more or less evenly distributed among the girls in question, so you can safely average that out.

what are we left with? boobs!

No, personality is king to my mind, in my experience the pretty girls with big boobs never developed a personality.

Sexy to me equates a mind with a personality & philosophcal leaning behind it, funnily enough sex is better with someone you feel an inttellectual & common connection unto, rather than someone with a body that meets your primal instincts, I still love boobs though.

Concerning the topic at hand. I'm neutral to it. Sure they could have equal eye-candy for both groups. See no reason for why they shouldn't. But is eye-candy even necessary?

I completely agree with Stanley.  The whole fantasy genre is basically a bunch of hyperbole.  Which is kind of why I like it!

well the fact that parents and fox five news will complain about the nudity in the game clearl meanting something. Mass effect 1 the characters had their clothes off in the sex scene. look what happened they get bashed by fox five news. there is a purpose for having sex in underwear in a GAME. the sex scene really are not important in which they last about 10 seconds long and they basically just kiss each other. its not really an important part of the game, but the fact ppl fuss over it so much makes it.

I have an easy answer for this. First, the parents and Fox Five News complaints are stupid. The game was rated Mature and was in no way promoted for children.
Yes, an underage person could play the game, but it won't be more difficult for he/she to get his/her hands on a porn mag or a Rated-R film. And I would be more concerned about children being exposed to violence, I don't see any news program complaining about that, but when it's about sex, golly, the sky is coming down.
Maybe it's not the most important part of the game, but it IS an important part of the game, not "the sex" itself, but the romance. And the underwear is just plain ridiculous.
Look at Rockstar, for example, their situation is more difficult than Bioware's and I don't see them self-censoring themselves. But this is not the place to discuss this. It has been discussed many times already.
My point is that Bioware didn't listen to the compaints before, and it won't change, that's for sure.

And also:

Personality > Boobs.

I like Wynne.

It adds to the game.
I will not play a PC that is butt ugly because it will bother me that much.
Nor will I play a PC that is morbidly obese.
Looks matter as the game is very visual.

That's funny; I find them about as likely to develop a personality as anyone else.  People in real life don't have attribute point limits.  You can indeed be excellent at everything :)

Having said all that, I actually prefer smaller boobs in general... I just feel compelled to play devil's advocate when it comes to all these people implying that breast size and character are inversely proportional.

I don't see it that way because something isn't inherently bad for being "unnatural,"  including with regards to how both sexes enhance their appearances.

I disagree. Freckles are always awesome.

Especially if they come with pigtails and overalls.
