ME2 too difficult, even on casual.

Before some of you begin laughing at me, let me tell you this; I have never been good at shooters. I have always been a RTS gamer. So what you find easy, I find hard.

The difficulty in ME1 was fine to me. This is because the game controls and mechanics were simple but not too basic. Not too easy for it to be boring, but not too hard for it to be stressful. An overall nicely balanced game.

But ME2 on the other hand is not. It seems even the most basic enemies in the game to to have lots of shields, tons of armour and large amounts of health. And they always moving/ducking so that roughly 75% of my shots miss. Although this is also because it seems you have to much, much, much more percise with your aiming compaed to ME1. None of this is helped by the fact that Bioware has the nerve to also make ammunition limited.
There are other problems as well; such as not being able to heal yourself, a pathetic shield/health bar, useless Squad A.I, ect.

I could go on but I think i've made my overall point.

ME2 is, in fact, more challenging than its predecessor. I hardly ever die in ME1, but I do in ME2, regardless of what difficulty I'm playing.

I found ME1 harder than ME2.

ME2 i could actually hit something with my Assault Rifle.
ME1, i had to get really close to hit anything.

ME2 is definitely harder than ME1. But its still not that bad. Casual for me is WAY too easy.

The NERF the enemies for you. Come on now. At least practice with it. If you think Casual is too hard for you, please don't play a NG+ Level 30 Vanguard on Insanity like I did.

IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. And would probably cause you to cut yourself if Casual is a pain.

So I advise taking some time with Casual and getting used to the mechanics. You'll be fine.

ME1, you had to get really close.

I think it ultimately depends on your level. In ME1, a level 60 Soldier, with Spectre gear and some decent armor, is essentially unkillable on Casual (to the point where it's not even a fair fight most of the time!). In ME2, a level 30 Soldier, with the best weapons, can still be killed quite easily even on Casual.

At least that's my own observation.

Not sure if serious.

If you are, just keep trying. I played ME1 through twice on casual when I was new to it...now I can easily play ME2 through on veteran and hardcore and have completed it twice on insanity....just persevere and read the advice threads, you'll get the hang of it.

i'm too used to the ME2 controls... so ME1 kind of became a little too "different" for me (slightly difficult)... even though i played ME1 before ME2.

ME2 was the first console game, and the first shooter, that I ever played, so casual mode was hellish for a while. (I played ME1 on the PC). I swore a lot through Garrus' loyalty mission and any mission that had a timer on it. Keep at it, you'll work out what strategies work best against which enemies and so on.

For a non-shotoer player, ME2 is significantly more difficult than ME1, partly because ME1 teaches some bad habits.

Aiming, for example. In ME1 you didn't really need to centre your target in the targetting reticle, because aiming was stat-driven anyway.

Also, with the new ammo mechanic in ME2, there's a lot more to do and worry about in a combat. Not to mention popping in and out of cover, plus timing your attacks with your target moving in and out of cover, and reloading.

I find ME2's combat just on the edgeof being too difficult. Now, I normally like difficult combat in RPGs, but that's because I enjoy RPG combat, but I don't enjy shooters, so ME2's combat is too annoying and repetitive for me to watch to spend any time or effort getting better at it.

Oh, and despite this, I still think ME2 is a better game than ME1 was.

Work on your skillz. Knowing how to work your way through a shooter is an essential part of gaming these days (otherwise your experience could be somewhat limited).

By the way, if Casual Difficulty in ME2 is hard for you, I'm assuming you've never played a multiplayer shooter game like Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2.

At first ME2 gave me lots trouble. I was pausing every 5 seconds (on Normal difficulty). 5 playthroughs later and I'm playing on Insanity without pausing, and, depending on class I can go through the game with no deaths.

I imagine that console versions would be harder to me, aiming with thumbsticks is really annoying.

And that makes sense.  ME1's cone of death should have irritated shooter players to no end.

I'm actually muddling through ME2 on normal, but yes, I certainly haven't played any modern shooters in a competitive multiplayer environment.

Because I don't like shooters, and because I don't like multiplayer.  Gaming, for me, is a solitary activity (and I like it that way).

I played ME1 before 2 (Vanguard) and it takes a little time getting into the new machanics when you first start if your not into shooters. Maybe you should switch to a class that focues on combat less and more on support like adept or engineer and let your squad do the shooting.

Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer would be unforgiving for you then.

It takes almost NOTHING to die(they aimed for realism), but its easy to get kills.

At 60fps, even on consoles, its a fast paced experience. Hard to get used to from a 30fps game like ME2.

All about being fast. Its fun, if you can stand the morons who grief and the little kids who shouldn't even be playing.

But I guess its not your time of game. Everyone's got their "thing".

Sentinel with 2 snipers made me coast through the game in nothing flat on Insanity lmao. But ya, I never played it on casual or normal, I instantly jumped into insanity since I got so used to play it like that from ME 1...so...ya, Insanity is moar fun :3

Another bad habit it teaches is that cover is unnecessary.  Sure, it's useful in the early parts of ME1, but after a while there just isn't any point, even on Insanity.
