If you don't like that, you'll have to boost your THAC0 as far as possible, get somebody to play tank with an AC of at about -20 (I don't know his THAC0 offhand, but I guess that should suffice) and pelt him. Spells don't have a good chance of hurting him, because as a drow his MR is pretty damn good, but you shouldd still empty your spellbooks, even if only every fourth MM hits. Every little bit counts.

In my last playthrough, I had Drizzt chase one character around the rest of the group as they pelted as many missile weapons at him as possible. The tactic of lowering the path search nodes makes me feel a little wrong, this way was much more genuine ... err sort of. (don't mention the copious amounts of traps I laid beforehand)

I think the bait has to die I'm not sure, or you could try them drinking a potion of invisibility and joining you on the island?
Make sure you have a truck load of ammunition, you can really only hit him on criticals.

A terribly cheesy way to beat him is to have a couple of NPCs follow you to the pier part of the lake, place them such that they block the way to the end of the pier. Then drop them from your party and tell them to stay put. Now you can just make Drizzt hostile and lure him up. Your PC can run the the end of the pier (since the PC displaces neutral characters), but Drizzt can't. Proceed to pelt Drizzt with hundres and hundreds of arrows.

And how would a strength potion improve your damage with a bow?
Note that I specifically said "Eagle Bow". It carries the STR bonus. (Insane on an Archer, btw.)

The PC displaces neutral characters? Since when?
Since we're playing in the BG2 engine. (Or is Tutu different in this regard?)
EDIT: Oh, I think I now see where there may be a misunderstanding. The PC displaces neutral characters if there's no other way to move to the desired location, i.e. if the neturals are placed in a choke point such as the middle of the pier bit.

When I decide to take him on with my party I do it in a head on fight. Just trigger the dialogue and once it becomes clear that he kills the gnolls easily, I find it justified to summon a lot of creatures to distract him (since he slays many in only a few hits). Monster summoning spells work okay, but wands are easier to use.
Buff your two main fighters with AC decreasing items and spells (potion of defense if needed, improved invisibility, defensive harmony), THAC0 increasing spells and items (bless, aid, chant, luck, strength potions, potion of power), attack speed (haste) etc. Keep the rest back to pelt him full of arrows, bolts, darts and bullets.
Offensive spells I rarely use so I do not recall whether vampiric touch works or not but it is worth a shot if you protect your mage with mirror image.
Then juggle your frontline fighters if they are targeted and heal them with spells or potions. Summon monsters if needed but not too many in case you trap Drizzt and your frontline fighters cannot reach him.
The fight is much more enjoyable that way.

I prefer to have him on my side, which with the Drizzt Saga installed, you can.
You do need to wait until the end of the game to do this however, otherwise you have totally unbalanced the game. You get some superb battles into the bargain. The big problem is that you lose nearly all of those lovely items you get, the sword of Belhifet, Durlag's Sword, the staff of the magi, and all that lovely armour!!!

I stated the Drizzt saga with me and Immy at L1 and 2, and yes, it was severly unbalanced. I got bored after a whlie, though, because with 3 melee fighters, and archer and a rogue, it becomes a pretty hack-and-slash battle-fest after a bit. Yes, the battles are epic, but there's only so much you can take before it gets tedious.
Also, the mod isn't as good as it could be - it changes a lot of existing creatures to make space for more animations (but doesn't do the same for ones installed by other mods) - and the items you get have existing descriptions and they don't always match up with the name etc.
Still, it's worth a play. I'm sad to hear you lose the awesome items at the end, though.

There's actually a CLUAConsole command you can enter that will conjure up the Drizzt who fights the gnolls...he'll attack anything with a red circle. So yea, you could get him in with Sarevok. Would be an amusing fight, but I think Drizzt would WTFPWNZ()RZ your half-brother.
I tried this on my latest playtrough and if I remember correctly Sarevok usually wins, probably because he has a lot more HP
