Hrmm its bugs like this that made all the armor in Oblivion pretty much useless, once you got the Armor of the 9 set, you just put it bank on its stand every level or 2 and it upgraded automatically, Its convienant but makes for bad balance

I am quite fond of this "upgrading". There's few enough armor models and weapon models that when you actually find one you like, you will want to use it.

When you talk to the weaponsmith at Soldier's Peak, after you completed the main quest there, he kind of hints at being able to do stuff to items you bring to him but doesn't say what exactly, or how. All I had to do after selling the items was close the weaponsmith's inventory and open it up again to get the upgrades (or downgrades). I don't know about the merchants though, you may have to completely leave the area or even save and load the game again for the changes to take effect. I do know at level 8 I was able to upgrade level 3 armor and weapons to level 6 (silverite) armor and weapons.

All that means is, if you bring Mikhael a certain item that you find in a random encounter, he will make a special weapon for you.

The one bug? in this game I don't mind and rather love, balance? bah! the game is already unbalanced might as well go for the good stuff.

I kind of wish we didn't have to rely on a bug/unusual feature to upgrade armour material. I wish we could take our armour to Wade and get him to do it for a fee. Maybe someone will mod that in?

EDIT: Also, does this work for all merchants, or just the one in Soldier's Peak?

no what made oblivion crap was that at one point the bandits are wearing full magic armor and weapons and you just sit back and farm them for cash til you have a few hundred thousand. and crusader armor in oblivion wasn't that powerful 100% comeleon was the game breaker

If you want you can just save and load that will level up the armor too.

The stronger the item is when it is "upgraded" at the merchant the more expensive it is to buy back. I wouldn't really say it is that much of an exploit because you do have to pay a pretty hefty sum to buy your armor back.

Is there also a helmet btw?

The helm you get for killing the deamon in stone prisoner is the same model as the warden helm (and is pretty badass)

Wait, you can do that? *sigh*

It's the best looking armor in the game. I find the 'cylon' blood armor style utterly misplaced so I threw that in a garbage bin, but I did notice the lack of armor value eventually. Used it anyway, but still...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who wouldn't wear the Blood Dragon Armor. Looked completely out of place.

Guess we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth though.

I hated the look of the Blood Dragon Armour too. It was bulky in all the wrong places, the dragon motif was way too stark (it looked like a decal, rather than a blood splatter), and the glowing helm was just ridiculous. It's a pity.

The Mass Effect version looks much better, so at least it's not a total bust.
