Would adore a full blown expansion, not sure of any plots but that would be epic. So long as we could return to our Normandy and not get stranded like in Awakening

What should the next DLC be about in mass effect 2? In my opinion I say it should be about the Virmire Survivor Kaiden/Ashley or a Alliance/Cerberus alligent mission. any other opinions?
I think it would be nice to have something to do with the Rachnii, or the Rachnos or whatever those bugs from ME1 were. They were awesome and such a tough opponent to kill. Especially in large groups...
Or a new mission involving the Th-thing from ME1, that plant which spawned those asari clones...
Uh thorian? That was quite annoying to kill with an adept...

I second that motion!
I love them!
I specifically spared the Queen and she sent me a message in ME2, indicating there's going to be a good reward for my kindness.
I hope there's not another Thorian out there somewhere, the first one was enough of a pain!
Although, when I encountered Thorian Creepers and mysterious spores on another planet, I did begin to wonder if there was another one.

I would really just like to know when the next one is expected, or expected to be announced at least. I know they said they wont be as common since LotSB, and we still have like a year until the 3rd game.

Of course, an Council/Alliance DLC would be super neat.... I'd just like it to be included in the expansion.
EDIT: it might also be nice to add a segment (in the expansion) about Shepard struggling with who she has become. Something to really question her humanity after being ressurrected from the dead. I really want to see that internal struggle. Maybe Anderson, Liara, or Joker would be good candidates for this sort of talk with Shep. (If they don't create an expansion, this could be something good for the Cerberus Network.)
As a sidenote, I really want to send Mordin through the ship to remove all unwanted bugs (from Cerberus and the Shadow Broker).

If it isn't a Virmire Survivor DLC, I think another form of Pinnacle Station. Only, not Pinnacle Station necessarily: either a Terminus-style colliseum which is little more than an excuse to fight unlimited number of fights, or (preferably) a 'historic battle simulator', sort of like Operation Anchorage from Fallout.
I think the would be pretty cool. TIM sends you email about how Cerberus is testing a new form of VI artificial training, and has the Normandy fitted both so that Shepard can test it and/or train his team at the same time.
So then it comes with a (few?) historical scenarios: Shaxni, for example, for the First Contact War. Maybe a recreation (but NOT a re-enactment) based on Torfan/the Blitz/Akuze, not so much in Shepard's footsteps as in how other people there saw things. Maybe round it out with some battled from the Rachni Wars (storming a Rachni nest with more Krogan?), the Krogan Rebellions (fight Krogan hoards with Salarian/Asari/later Turian assistance), and similar.
It would be an opportunity to see backstory places that likely will never get their own games, and in a manner that could help the developers practice their ME3 plans, if those intend to have 'mega-battles' of more than your squad vs. enemy. Give them a chance to display (and get feedback) on new enemy models, level design, and so on.

Rachni won't be DLC. Can't have a DLC where some people can't play it because they killed the queen.
Unless that wasn't the last queen after all....

Also, would particularly like to see some space combat. Or on transporter combat of some sort.

Like, the other Shepards who didn't make Spectre. Say the Sole Survivor in the Thresher Maw nest on Akuze, who could be a singularity-spaming adept with major health and hit-and-run tactics. The Butcher of Torfan in the Torfan bunker, a vanguard with a wicked shotgun always pressing the attack. Or the Hero of the Blitz, an infiltrator who always seems to find the best cover.

I'm hoping for the Ashley/Kaiden DLC and agree with the other posters that something more extensive than the 3-4 hours we've been getting would be nice (though I'll continue to pay $7-$8 for 3-4 hours of gameplay, because it's way more fun than a movie, for about the same price.)

I think the Virmire Survivor dlc should revolve around Ash/Kaiden trying to bring Shep in for the Alliance. When you think about it, Shep really is a liability to the Alliance at this point. The Council is publicly saying that he's crazy, he's working for an organization that they consider terrorists and he's working outside of Citadel space which means if he causes any problems and sets off a political incident, the Council will hold him responsible and humanity will be set back years in the political arena.
Since Ash/Kaiden are sort of like secret agents now, the Alliance could send them to hunt Shep down and bring him in. It would allow us to see Corsairs in action and would add emotion to the story since Ash/Kaiden would be torn between their feelings for Shep and their duty.
That's a good point.

I know a DLC like this wont expand the story from ME2 to ME3 but it will give players the chance to get to know Shepard better which quite frankly is the most important character in the game IMO.

Interesting, though the idea that Kaidan/Ash, badass as they are, could take down Shepard is absurd.

It's set in stone and best left up to the imagination.
However you can missions that allude to those past stories.
A colony and garrison under attack. Shepard arrives and makes ground while investigating why the colony's gone dark. Dead colonists and marines are littered everywhere which visibly upsets Shepard. Shepard will find survivors holed up and can either help them escape (a family with a kid for extra sadness) or attack the attackers and stop them from continuing their mayhem. For bonus points it could be another Cerberus experiment just like Akuze.
Military distress call calls the Normandy to help take holed up batarian stronghold. These guys have been enslaving human colonies and carrying out terror attacks through out the Verge (think Balak's financiers). The Alliance is in trouble of losing the battle and Shepard and crew arrive at a pivotal moment to turn the tide. Choices throughout the mission will either save Alliance lives (at the cost of batarians taking ground and later escaping the planet) or cost Alliance lives but defeat the terrorists.
An exotic luxury world is under attack while Shepard is there because of Plot Device A is there. Shepard without squad members is the only thing between the attackers and the innocents. Shepard takes command of the people in the resort blocking certain exits, arming certain people, and taking up defensive positions between waves. Shepard's actions can be idealistic (security guards and Shepard fighting off everything while spending most time protecting innocents) or pragmatic (recruiting said innocents to fight with you and leave certain people on the other side of the resort on their own because splitting up this group into two hurts the chances of defense).
This would be better than a simple flashback since there's no growth for Shepard in that moment. We already know what happened and how it has to go down. Using new attacks that mirror the background will allow Shepard to be the same old Shepard or change. A Butcher of Torfan who's haunted by his choices will strive to protect everyone, even if some batarians escape. Or a War Hero sacrificing some innocents to protect the most since he's become jaded throughout the last two games.
This allows for some character moment as well as action and giving three different missions depending on your background which helps replayability.

As much as I'd like a confrontation between Shep and the butthurt Virmire Survivor, I think there was a Shadow Broker file stating that Admiral Hackett denied a request to arrest Shepard.
I think the next DLC should be about Admiral Xen's obsession over the Geth. Independant of how we handled Legion's loyalty mission, I'd like to see what effect the reprogramming/destruction would have on the ME universe.
