This keeps intriguing me every night and day... I can't stop thinking about it:blink:

Edit:

Some facts I gatherd . Please keep them coming so bioware will know what to improve on and what to focus on .

- Women like Allistair because some womemen find him adoreable and cute at the most trempling moments.

- The story

- Some women like Zevren and sten

- The fighting ( Killing darksawn) to relax at some momtents like job, school, and free time.

- The abiltiy to play as women

LOL. Why does it keep you up night and day? Why do YOU like Dragon Age? Posted Image

I love adventuring through the story, learning what make the characters tick, coming across mysteries, and shattering everyone who gets caught in my Cone of Cold. Posted Image Actually, one of the most satisfying aspects of DA:O? Developing successful strategies in tough fights

Alistair is hot, yes. He's also real about his emotions, which turns a lot of 14 year old boys off - an automatic win/win.

Well I can't really tell

I don't see why woman liking Alistair is weird or odd, you have just as much obsessive guys who like Morrigan.

And Tali Garrus Liara Wrex and oh some Geth that was in ME2 :wizard:.

I don't think a word exists for the  ... obsession of some Talimancers. :?

Are there any options for women to express their interest in characters at all? Would any women prefer to have that option?
I know that for the male romances you have specific options to let the women know you are interested before they show any interest in you.

You can do this as a female character. I guess you could argue that some interest is shown by the various LIs in the form of flirty lines before you get those dialogue options, but you can express interest very early on.

You can also hit on Duncan and Teagan and several other NPCs throughout the game.

And how do you feel about that?

I thought there was a pretty good balance between the PC being the initiator and recipient of romantic interest, personally.

Heh if I am honest, I liked Alistair up to the point at the landsmeet where he loses sympathy of most people I think. I guess that's what you mean by self-righteous as well. So would be one who actually like him myself to that point, but I never looked at him the same after this. He turned from funny to dumba...

This is off-topic but.. what? He wants to kill Loghain after he betrayed the King, wiped out the Grey Wardens for his own ambition, labeled you and Alistair as criminals, (if human noble) helped orchestrate the destruction of the Couslands, poisoned Arl Eamon (a father figure for Alistair), tried killing you dozens of times over. Maybe it's just me but I don't think that's dumb to want the guy butchered.

Edit: Selling elves (if an elf).

I'm just bummed that we couldn't, erm, sleep with Teagan or Duncan. Especially Duncan. Can you imagine the look on Alistair's face when he asks you about licking lamposts and you say "Yeah, I had Duncan alone for a little while before we got to Ostagar.." :D

And where did he say they do or that he thinks they do?

Couldn't he just be interested in different women's opinion?

I really think they do not differ much from males, but these are still fun topicsPosted Image

Right. Hitting on Duncan was a bit trampy (or you could say desperate) and yielding nothing--a wonderful character opportunity for you.

Hitting on Teagan is a bit more nuanced between both of you, without either directly expressing interest, and more with the coy flirting that doesn't go anywhere.

Not to mention every Origin had some sort of romantic thing going on. All of them were handled differently. None ended well.

Oh God, nooooo.  Both my mother and I hated Alistair.  He was nice at first, but by the end I wanted to kill him.  He was touchy, whiney, and self-righteous.  I was thouroughly fed up with talking about his feelings.  That was one of the things I liked about Zevran, actually.  He had feelings, but he sure didn't like to talk about them.

What I did like was the customizable character (being able to play a female character is a HUGE plus), the lore, and being able to decide the course of major events (whom to put on the throne, do the Dark Ritual or not, etc).

Finally a woman that understands! I hated Alistair for those exact reasons. At first I was like "Ok, this guys going to be cool." It all changed as soon we got to Lothering.

And I'm complete agreement with you both here. I could not abide his endless whining; all his "woe is me, my hero died... woe is me, I don't want to be king... woe is me, I'm a bastard..." - there's a Slap Morrigan mod (another character whose endless pissing and moaning and holier-than-thou-attitude got right up my nose), now someone make a Punch Alistair mod, and I might play this game again...

That and his comeon technique was the most pathetic I've heard since highschool. Ugh... you are so not getting in me, Alistair...

As for the things I liked, I'm in total agreement there also - the scope of the story, the richness of the world, and the fact you really felt like you were shaping the events within the world. I just could have done without the thumbsucking man-child and the snotty cow who should put more clothes on.... why couldn't we have romanced a real man like Sten?

Also it was a smart political choice. As often said: The land must be united, so to have Loghain, who still has some political power and allies hang around could have been dangerous.
Still, killing him in front of his daughter was a tad cruel.

Not everyone has the same tastes, but I would say, judging by the popularity of Alistair and Zevran, the writing team did their job. If you are stuck with romance options you hate, well, that must really suck. You might like some in DA2, who knows? :D

Hahaha :D.  Why wouldn't they?

I can see a young fella asking this, because some young girls and women won't make the first direct move on a guy.  But if you're into replaying DA:O, try a female character and find out. It won't kill you.

I'm playing my first male character (who totally got caught by Leliana while romancing Morrigan), and just learned that male pcs can win kisses from some female quest givers. So funny. :)

Anyway, I'm off topic. I obviously can't say much about DA:2, but if the first one is any indication, there will be more angst and adorableness.

After Anora betrays me to Ser Cauthrien, oh hell yeah I laugh at that moment.

As for how Alistair loses his mind at the Landsmeet.. you can pretty much justify it (as Dave did so eloquently), and/or you can also look at as a moment when his character flaw is revealed. Every character has a flaw, everyone gets pushed to the point where they can't be pushed any more. That's his breaking point. It adds a lot more depth to him.

Yeah, it's a bit of a tantrum, as Anora calls it, but you can't help but feel for the guy at that moment. He's lost everything that was ever important to him, let him get his anger out. Maybe in hindsight he'll look back on it and think it was a rash way to behave, but he'll have to learn from it and maybe it will help him grow later on (and he does mature a great deal over the course of the game, just listen to the speech before the Battle of Denerim if you made him king).

Besides, it's quite ironic that Maric's son gets to kill Loghain, I mean, if Maric were alive at this point he'd probably do it himself after everything Loghain did.

Why? Please help me to find some humor in that situation or I will actually feel bad about wanting to become queen badly enough to kill a father in front of his daughter's eyes after he said a very sweet thing. XD
Yes, I feel like I am a bad person.

PS: I wanted to flirt with Bran, he was funny.
