Well after reading all does opnion I can least have some conclusion about how women think about gaming and some movies I all the women that I know might have the same opnion on some things as you thank you :D

And I'm woundering something

What do you think about the trailer having no women as main or sub main charcter ( dragon age 2 trailer)

It doesn't really bother me that much, as a lot of protagonists in games are male... we know there is an option to play as "Lady-Hawke" but if the game is fun, immersive, and as deep as the first game, I could live with a male-lead in all honesty.

I can see a young fella asking this, because some young girls and women won't make the first direct move on a guy.  But if you're into replaying DA:O, try a female character and find out. It won't kill you.

How young do you think is young? I'm 26. Where I'm from women making the "first move" is rare at any age. It's a cultural thing.

26 is young, but not very.

I'm almost 31, and live in Canada. It's normal here for women to express their interest in men, although they might do it differently. But I do think many men still feel obligated to make the first move, and carry this modest burden as well as they can. And I bet these men feel pleasantly relieved/refreshed when women are more direct.

Anyway, enough off topicness. Posted Image Apologies. Any further off topic = pm or different forum.

Well not to make the age really diffrent ,but I just got 18 yesterday and I wanted to know what some women think about dragon age for exemple as I didnt think my theory was true and some of it was which really is unbeliveable P

How is Alistair's reaction not unreasonable? He doesn't just object to letting Loghain live, he deserts! He is a deserter. If he was reasonable he would have disagreed but stayed for the battle, but he doesn't. He runs away like a stupid little kid. And obviously afterwards he never finds any better use in his life than being drunk all day. My understanding of the word reasonable is a bit different there.

Character flaws. People have 'em. He was not wrong to want Loghain dead. So he wanted the crown to ensure it. You wouldn't give it to him, so he felt he had no choice but to leave.

He had a choice, he could have helped defend Denerim, kill Darkspawn. Like he should if he is a Grey Warden. I don't think being unreasonable is just a character flaw. It is the difference between a patriot and a fanatic.

Well, I'd react exactly like him if I was expected to work with Howe on my Cousland or Vaughan on my City Elf.

Well tbh I would act the same on Howe and Vaughn, they die every playthrough even if I am not city elf.

Well I somehow respect Loghain more than them though. Might be just me, but I think he is rather 'misled' than outright evil. But Howe and Vaughn are just ... ugh.Posted Image

I can only speak for myself, but I don't like it. I would love to see Lady Hawke in the marketing. I would like to see both versions of hawke in the trailers

But techinally the trailer does have all you need "hawk" well almost :innocent:

So you dont think hawk is attractive?

Or is just that you want a women hacking up that qunari?

It's not that male!Hawke isn't attractive, it's just that equal representation in the media would be nice. If you think about it, fem!Hawke would be pretty popular with the guys. Marketing to tastes, and all that. ;)

Alistair is my favorite love interest. I do not find Alistair whiny. He is open and sincere and not hung up on being macho or manly. This does not make him weak. I get way to much male ego and posturing in real life, and am happy to not have to deal with testosterone induced confrontations in my free time.

Frankly, my dislike of him has little to do with his lack of manliness (though that was a factor).  I don't like anyone, male or female, that constantly wants to talk about his or her "feelings." I am no one's therapist, not in real life or in a game.  I find it particularly unattractive in a man, but I'm no fan of it in a woman, either.  I don't mind being there in a tough time, but not when "a tough time" is every five minutes.

Addendum: It always bothers me that people get upset when Alistair gets angry at sparing Loghain. Loghain was responsible for killing Alistair's father figure and all of his friends. He let his king die. He allowed slavery, torture, and nearly destroyed everything that made Ferelden, Ferelden. Then you decide to let Loghain live and call Alistair whiny and self righteous for objecting. I find this consistent lack of empathy for your comrade in arms both sad and disturbing.

I found Alistair self-righteous, but I understood his reaction perfectly in this case.  I actually rather agreed with him.

Loghain is his Howe/Vaughn. Someone who has personally, deeply hurt him and destroyed his life. Someone he feels deserves to die.

In fact, Alistair allows Howe to live in DSC. Can you imagine if the game forced you to let Howe live as a Cousland? People here would spew hot lava.

Yes!  Male Hawke is really attractive.  I wish I could romance him.  However, it would be nice to see a women portrayed as a "heroe" figure.  We want to see the same strength and resolve in our fem Hawke as we see in the male Hawke.  We also would like the acknowledgement that women with equal skill and strength are as capable as any man.  And Yes.  Seeing a  woman hacking up a Quanri would be immensley satisfying.

These are excellent points. I can't even imagine the rage from the forums if Alistair intervened when you were about to kill Howe or Vaughn.

I don't mind playing as a male character. I enjoyed The Witcher a lot. But Garett Hawke in particular with this funny Nutella smear on his face and his beard makes me very "MEH" about the new trailer. I am very glad we can still change his sex. And of course Lady Hawke featured in the marketing campagne would have been very sweet.

I respect your opinion.  Liking or disliking Alistair is often a matter of preference.

I don't see Alistair's expression of personal morality  as self-righteous.  He is simply standing up for his beliefs whether we share them or not.  It takes a bit of strength to look at someone and to say, "Hey.  I don't think what you're doing is right." knowing that they don't share your point of view.  He can also be reasoned with.  When he asks about party members you can point out that his "templar" is showing in regards to Morrigan.  He does acknowledge that he may be a bit predjudiced.  A self righteous person would never do this.

Being repentant doesn't always mean you deserve forgiveness. Loghain is a murderer, a traitor, and mentally unstable, especially when you consider he does a complete and very abrupt 180 after only beating him in combat. As a matter of pure prgmatism, I would have prefered to spare him and make him do the ritual and make him die killing the arch-demon, and I still wouldn't consider him redeemed. However, with Alistairs reaction (which is not unreasonable) it no longer holds any practicality at all. Better to side with Alistiar whom you are already familiar with and know you can trust, as opposed to the obviously unstable Loghain.

Loghain's being repentant is a non-issue. Grey Wardens don't dispense redemption and salvation - they look for those that'll best serve their cause - and Loghain doesn't exactly fit the bill due to his age. I really dislike how the enitre Landsmeet plays out anyway - I consider it farsical to force a choice between bringing Loghain on board or keeping Alistair.

I agree, mostly. I just think it becomes clearly impractical once it becomes apparent that Alistair will leave or die if you spare Loghain. At that point the obvious better decision is to kill Loghain and keep Alistair. This will make stopping the blight more likely than if you spare Loghain and lose Alistair.

Agreed - Alistair is already a Warden. Your character cannot possibly know that Loghain would even survive the Joining. It's really odd that Riordan decides to pick that moment to recruit a single person for the Wardens, when it would have been more pragmatic to let the Fereldan Wardens know the deal and have them use that Right of Conscription to snag more likely candidates.

Heh if I am honest, I liked Alistair up to the point at the landsmeet where he loses sympathy of most people I think. I guess that's what you mean by self-righteous as well. So would be one who actually like him myself to that point, but I never looked at him the same after this. He turned from funny to dumba...

This is off-topic but.. what? He wants to kill Loghain after he betrayed the King, wiped out the Grey Wardens for his own ambition, labeled you and Alistair as criminals, (if human noble) helped orchestrate the destruction of the Couslands, poisoned Arl Eamon (a father figure for Alistair), tried killing you dozens of times over. Maybe it's just me but I don't think that's dumb to want the guy butchered.

Edit: Selling elves (if an elf).

Ya, I have to agree with you Dave. Alistair saying "Welcome to the team" after Loghain is made a Grey Warden, that would have been dumb.
