stuck at home with flu... not fit state to get on toolset without leaving  some variety of ooze all over the keyboard...
I managed to beat him with my solo bard from the end of MotB. Crushing his heart should halve the damage you have to do to him.. FYI his stats are from the 3E conversion you can find here. It aint pretty.

and there's some cool images here and here

The crashes are slightly random - but one way I found I can load an area like the end of Dragotha's Lair without crashing is by moving the start location to that area - you could try that if you want to face him (then use the GUI menu to bring in your exported party

Sucks to be sick! Make sure to get some chicken noodle soup. Or Oden. Or whatever your regional "recover from the flu" dish is.

Perhaps you could double check his dexterity when you have time? Zeroing his dexterity took the battle from every swing being a miss (even the 60+ attacks), to every swing being a hit, even with improved power attack on and me forgetting to cast bless + prayer (that's what, a difference of 9?). That's a pretty big difference, I would have guessed his dex was closer to 40 rather than 10.

I ran into a strange issue.

while at an location map, some of my pcs disapppeared for some reason, and others slowed down,

not to mention the last time it happened it was in the town after giving the retired harper the wave item.

That happens on occasion during "plot" conversations.
Fortunately saving/loading the game fixes it. But you may have a problem if the conversation leads to a fight :) (had 2 fights with incomplete parties due to this).

Very late bug report:

Due to the exit and immortality bugs I never really did much with the ziggurat so I am just now fully exploring. There is a trap door in one of the rooms off the first hall that does not seem to be actionable.

Also, is there a purpose to the black pearls?

I just found this mod and I've been playing for the last few weeks. It's great!

I'm in the White Plume mountain. I solved all the Beholder riddles. I've returned Blackrazor and the Wave to their rightful owners. I found Whlem and when I leave the north passage to the central chamber, the cave is collapsing. I found a genie named Nix on my way out, but he wouldn't talk to me when I try to initiate convo. I've been told he's the key to end the module.

Is there any fix?

Thank you.

I don't remember meeting Nix, but is there an item of his that you can pick up and interact with? You know, like a bottle, a lamp, something?

Sorry, not much help. White Plume is just about the best mod I have played. A very "Old School" adventure feel to it.

The conversation with Nix is a bit tricky to trigger as I recall. Try approaching him from several different directions. I remember sometimes having to do this quite a bit to get him to talk to me.

Any issues if playing this with Kaedrin's PrC pack?

have the areas that cause CTD been fixed yet? I wanted to play this module so bad, but when i found out there are two areas that needed to be avoided I just quit the module.

It hasn't been updated in over a year, so no (no new version uploaded at least). I would like that to be fixed, but it still has a ton of areas, so one or two less isn't that bad.

And about Nix: I ran into that problem and I quit the module. I played it again after some time and all went well. But I don't know if the bug can be solved if you run into it. You can always try loading a previous save (if you have it).

I have never failed to get past the Nix bug simply walking away and approaching again from a few angles. I don't remember whether I had to actually walk up and talk to him or whether the conversation triggered once I got close.

As to the CTD areas, I do not believe they have been fixed but they are in optional areas. Admittedly I am something of a completionistand really liked the bugged areas so always struggled through them but they are in no way necessary or tied to the main plot.

Thank you for the replies. I'm not sure what I did, but it worked. I surrounded Nix with my party members. I talk to him and quickly switched party member. Rinse and repeat until all the sudden the convo triggered. I guess I found the right angle, whatever it was.

I tried to do that as well, but I decided to leave them after several crashes. It's a shame, but the module is big enough (read: huge) even without those areas.

I finally beat the last boss! Just to be sure, after informing Nix of my success, is this truly the end? There was no end credits after that. Do I have to "retire" just like in SoZ?

Thanks

Yes, there's no end unless you "retire" as far as I remember. When I played, I left that part for last so it was actually the end for me, but I had explored everything else first. I reached level 21 in the end fight, I would have liked to play a bit after that since I hadn't experienced epic since MotB, but there was nothing left to do.

I've sent Wyrin a mail, but couldn't get a response so necro-ing this..

I also had the Nix issue, but was able to solve it by simply reloading. Besides the Gnoll Mines, the areas in Dragothea's Lair were also prone to crashing to me. I didn't have any issues with the Underdark market, nor the level below.

Anyway, I think I've finished all side-quests and have recovered every possible artifact.. so I'm finishing the main quest in White Plume Mountain right now.

But I'm a bit stuck. I'm in the "Upper Reaches of the Underdark", from the "Abandoned Chambers". There's this door to apparent lower levels I can't open/reach, was anyone able to open it and make the transition?

I remember a similar broken door bug. But I played on release so it was a long time ago.
