I imported my save and the marked flag is "Good+ outcome"

I am that Stryker1550 guy, by the way. :)

Just to chip in...

I just finished a Renegade Femshep playthrough.

Feros:

Didn't do any of the sidequests.
Intimidated Jeong
Saved Shiala
Killed all colonists

And I got Feros Colony SAVED.

So long as Jeong and Shiala are alive apparently the Colony is saved.

Yes I did. I was doing a murderous psycho itch renegade run. :devil:

Shiala even flirted with me in ME2.

Just finished a renegade Feros. I chose:

Completed side quests
Kill Jeong
Chose "wipe out everything" both times.
Killed all colonists. (Got +32 renegade points)
Kill Shiala

Colony was lost.

I'm really glad I don't know my current Commander Shepard in real life. I'd really hate her.

Just to complement, the marked flags are:
"Conviced Ethan Jeong" but I used intimidate
"Killed Shiala"
"Released Shiala" ???
"Give_good_plus"

Also, the flag "Too many colonists killed" is not marked, but as I said, I killed all 16.

Alright, guys, more testing done, and here's what I've learned: Don't save Jeong.

Points needed to save Feros: 13
-> Each colonist is worth 1 point
-> Each completed sidequest is worth 1 point
-> Convincing Jeong is worth 12 points
-> Sparing Shiala is worth 5 points
-> Shiala and Jeong overlap

So, if you kill Jeong and Shiala, you need to spare 13 colonists, or 9 colonists plus do 4 sidequests, or 11 plus 2 sidequests, etc etc. I've tried various combinations of these and it always works out to a 13 point cutoff, they're apparently interchangable.

If you spare Jeong, you only need 1 sidequest, or 1 colonist.
If you spare Shiala, you need 8 colonists, or 5 colonists and 3 sidequests, etc etc.

If you spare Jeong and Shiala, though, they overlap rather than add to each other, so you still only have 12 points, so you still need to save at least one colonist or do at least one sidequest or Feros will die.

I have not been able to reproduce any kind of run where Jeong lives, any colonist lives, and Feros dies.

That said, I haven't been particularly meticulous about which colonists I knock out and which I kill. So if, say, sparing one named colonist vs sparing one "Colonist" colonist makes a difference, that would have slipped my testing process.

Just to update this thread I recently just played the Feros mission and heres what I did.

No Sidequests
Jeong = ALIVE
Shiala = ALIVE
4 Colonists were SAVED

And I still got Colony Gone. Julia and her daughter say that they are leaving.

HOWEVER
when I talk to Jeong he keeps saying "Feros will get a second chance".
So I'm quite confused as to whether or not the colony was truly "saved".

Sorry for the necro, but this appears to be the most detailed thread on all things Feros.

From all the testing it appears Feros' failure or success as a colony, is random?

Does anyone have any experience with a renegade playthrough, where Jeong is intimidated but the colony fails?

Ideally I'd like to get the xp from doing the colony assignments, without turning them in for paragon/completion xp.  I'd intimidate Jeong for the large renegade bonus, tell my squad to go nuts on the colonists (finishing them all off), and take out Shiala for good measure.  Has anyone done that kind of playthrough and have the colony fail?

The above combination yields a mixed result.  Juliana thanks me for trying to save save some colonists (did not save any, didn’t even equip the non-lethal grenades), but she is sad not enough survived for the colony to continue.  Lizbeth says there's nothing left and can't wait to get off the planet.  The rest of the ExoGeni employees are happy the colony will now survive, because of the additional funding they will receive.  Jeong is bragging there's no evidence left of the Thorian, and how Feros will get a second chance thanks to me.

In my journal, the mission is complete as "Feros: Colony Gone".

"Feros: Power Cells", "Feros: Power Cells", and "Feros: Power Cells” all completed themselves as I killed the colonist associated with the assignment.  No completion xp or paragon points were awarded though.  Feros: Geth in the Tunnels did not complete, and is still active in my journal even with Fai Dan dead.

I replayed the above combination with one change.  I killed Jeong instead of intimidating him.

Juliana and Lizbeth's responses were the same, but the ExoGeni employees were almost entirely negative.  They mostly complained about ExoGeni's lack of support and said the colony would have a less likely chance to succeed.  One employee spoke of the positively about Exogeni and the colony, but this seems to be a glitch as the rest of his comments were negative.  Again the mission completed as "Feros: Colony Gone".

It would do, though, wouldn't it? Dead administrator, dead potential asari helper, dead colonists, and infrastructure problems not fixed - though it sounds like the game has this wrong if you did actually turn the water on and fix the food situation etc but just didn't report back. Bottom line is that saving the colony means a combination of completing the side quests by going back to the right people and not killing everyone. You don't have to keep everyone alive and you don't have to complete all the side quests but there's a kind of minimum combination of the two needed to ensure that Feros keeps going. If I recall the first time I intimidated Jeong and saved everyone, so no surprise the colony survived, but the second time I ended up shooting Jeong and accidentally shot a colonist though clumsy mouse use, but I'd completed the side quests in full and let Shiala live so the colony still survived no probs. Not sure what the maximum body count consistent with the colony still surviving is but I'm sure you can kill a few if you feel the need.
